Filipina Fiance/Game Plan
Filipina Fiance/Game Plan
I have a fiance from the Philippines. I would like to bring her to PP to live with me once I get a steady teaching gig. Does she need a visa?
I have read some threads about marriage here and it sounds pretty time consuming and complicated. We don't have to be officially married. We are soulmates and will just be happy to be together period. My long term plan is to acquire a degree and try to seek employment in the PI later on. I plan on taking the CELTA in Siem Reap and then heading down to PP to begin teaching. Staying in the PI long term is much easier when marrying a Filipino citizen, so ideally we could live together in PP and then be married in the PI later on.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Filipinas marry older Western guys so that they can move somewhere nice. Cambodia is a downgrade from the Philippines. Don't take her there.

That is not the reason why she is marrying me. Sure there are some like that but why do you paint them all with such a broad brush? She is OK with Cambodia. She just wants to be with me. There is such a thing as true love. I hope you find it someday sir.

She needs a visa just like every other foreigner, although the first 21 days or so is free: My wife is a Filipina, other than missing the family she likes Cambodia better.JayBoogie wrote:I have a fiance from the Philippines. Yes she needs a visa. I have three filipina friends here, two are nurses working and teaching at one of the hospitals, and another was working in admin. They all like Cambodia.JayBoogie wrote:That is not the reason why she is marrying me. Sure there are some like that but why do you paint them all with such a broad brush? She is OK with Cambodia. Thank you good sir. I appreciate the real world feedback. If all goes well I should be arriving at the end of July in Siem Reap for the Aug. 1st CELTA course. I am excited to begin this new adventure.

In an effort to curb trafficking of young Filipinas they require them to get some kind of exit clearance to leave for overseas work and maybe marriage.

The government thinks that going to a foreign country to look for a job on your own is not safe. But there are more people who are maltreated and can't do anything because they were hired directly, because the employers paid everything for them to leave the country.

Utter bollocks. There is nothing to stop Flippers leaving the country. You're talkng out of your arse.MotherOfDragons wrote:Obtaining a visa is easy for Filipinos here. But leaving the country is hard. The immigration doesn't allow filipinos to leave the country easily.
