I know many of you travel through Bangkok to other destinations that are not easy from here. I am flying back to Canada around January 10 and the prices/routes are ridiculous at the moment. I found a flight from BKK that is dirt cheap (relatively) but it leaves 8 AM necessitating getting there a day early. Anyone know if there is any hotels airside that don't cost an arm and a leg? Alternatively something near the airport in the 1000 baht range.

A bit off-topic maybe but I used to try to save money by getting long hauls from Europe to Bangkok or vice versa and buying a cheap ticket to Phnom Penh. Maybe it depends on your specific route but for myself it saves a lot more time, and money wasted on extortionate crap in airports to just buy a full ticket for the whole route. If you have the time there is a possibility you'll save a little but I never have enough time. I don't want to spend two days or more in transit which will mess up the following few days too.

Not only a cheap charlie, but lazy sod too. In the time it took you to post this, you could have searched on this new fangled thing called the internet.

Grand BS Airport Hotel Suvarnabhumi isn't grand and it was always around 1000 baht. Free pick-up and drop-off at the airport.

Aurelius AKA nimrod thanks for your very near useless reply. I have already searched "the internet" for more than an hour. I posted not for internet options but real person opinions as well. Angsta managed to do it in a few seconds, Less time than it took you to trash my request. Pat yourself on the back.

Try the Nasa Bangkok hotel. Easy subway ride just a few stops from the airport and near the station.

Used to be called the Nasa Vegas.

I slept in one of these. Was good so long as you don’t have to frequently go to the bathroom

Look for rooms in Latkrabang. It's the area north of Survarnabhumi airport and it's full with people working at the airport & crews, You can have a cheap room including return transfer for around 700-800 THB there. There's a few nightmarkets around offering decent & cheap food beating the stuff inside the airport on price & quality.

You’re right. The completely subjective recommendations on an anonymous forum from people you don’t know are very valuable.

Fuck me. It’s a few hours in a crappy hotel, not a three week stay by the beach.

You're right. Who would want a good night's sleep before a 22 hour 3 flight journey. What was I thinking? I retract my rash naming of you as a nimrod. You've been upgraded to asshole. Congrats! Don't know why you discount the opinions of people I do not know on this forum. I don't know any of them on booking sites either. Meanwhile 3 more people have managed to answer the actual question. To whom I give my thanks.
