Can anyone help with information about obtaining a Khmer driving license?
I haven't got my British license with me but will be driving around Cambodia and wish to comply as much as possible with local law.
(I see that not being able to provide my original license will probably render the one I get here somewhat dodgy)
Same goes for an ID card but I can provide my passport/visa for this.
If you could please furnish me with any and all experiences concerning this matter I would be very grateful.
Where to buy?
Cost?(not as important as actually getting said)
Pros/cons?
Please forgive my formal tone as I have yet to really rise from my slumber and feel a bit funny.
Many thanks,
Mezmo.
Getting a Driving license/ID card.
You can't get the ID card as a foreigner, carry either your passport or a clever copy of it.
Don't know whether you can sti;ll have the Cambodian license done with a pdf copy, you could try, at Lucky Lucky or New New on Monivong. Their addresses are in the Yellow Pages.

If you have a british License (and many other countries) won't an international drivers license suffice? especially if your not staying forever. They are easy to obtain online.

I've been driving in Cambodia everyday for about 2.5 years with nothing but a few one dollar bills on hand.... I've only spent one of them...
Cheers all,
General consensus is Lucky Lucky, they seem to have the scope to do it all so thanks guys.

No, an IDL is of no use here. Lucky Lucky as mentioned can sort out a license for you but you need to present a valid license from your own country to legally obtain one. the cost around $35 per year. If you don't have a license from home, your supposed to sit the 'test'. If you want to be legal that is.Typhoon wrote:If you have a british License (and many other countries) won't an international drivers license suffice? especially if your not staying forever.
