If you were, you'd noticed the evil gleam in their eyes, caused by drugs. They are all crazed by grass and other addicting drugs, as is known to authorities everywhere.
Apparently a lot of "backpackers" are taking drugs?

It's everywhere in every country. It's not just the foreigners either. There are also young Cambodians on 'Yamma' and 'Ice'. Open your eyes, you will see the signs.
I don't really care what people get up to. It's their choice. I'm not exactly 'clean' myself. I've had my years of 'partying' when I was younger. I also know of a number of foreigners abusing drugs freely available from the pharmacy, codeine, valiums, morphine, all freely and easily available from any pharmacy!!

I understand. The truth is out there. I thought the 'evil gleam' was caused mostly by alcohol, but then, I am ignorant of history. Tobacco? Sugar? Sodium? Capitalism? Oh, those are acceptable?BubbaRamDas wrote:Cause you don't pay attention, is why.

ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.

Apparently, some posters don't get sarcasm, apparently. I know this might not be the right thread to post this in, but I think I saw a bear shitting in the woods when I drove home last night ...

you're kidding right???MoodyMac wrote:Is this some sort of new trend? I have never heard of such a thing! I hope the police crack down on this nefarious activity before it becomes popular.
I run into these kiddies a LOT at a hostel in Bangkok I've stayed at for years. Last year or two it's been a different place, in part because of these assholes. They don't turn off their stupid, rude, self centered behavior when they come back to Bkk. Often they seem to be just there on a short layover shifting from one party spot to another. On a recent trip, the place half emptied the week before the full moon party. IF police are jailing them according to Thai laws, it does not seem to be making a dent in the stories they tell each other when they get back home because this group has gotten larger over the last 2 or 3 years.
In my experience.
In our day the cops actually LOOKED for it and CAUGHT ppl and man what a mess that could be. So we acted with SOME reserve. These kids are so open about it it's like they think it's legal and totally ok. And really, gen X on drugs abroad with no stops? Really obnoxious.andyinasia wrote:Yaay, that's EXACTLY the thought going through my mind. There was me thinking they carried beans in those backpacks. Young people eh? It would never happen in our day.
Beautiful area that Ven Vieng, I'd love to hang out there a bit, BUT with all that stupid shit going on? NO WAY.
This is all not mentioing what dealing with this makes the locals think about westerners in general and how the areas develop with what in mind and you know what kind of price structure.
Generation X?
"Generation X, commonly abbreviated to Gen X, is the generation born after the Western post–World War II baby boom ended. While there is no universally agreed upon time frame, the term generally includes people born from the early 1960s through the early 1980s, usually no later than 1981 or 1982. The term had also been used in different times and places for various subcultures or countercultures since the 1950s." (Wikipedia)
I don't think you'll find too many from Gen X off their faces in Vang Vieng. Gap-year Millenials more like.

U are mistaken. The new trend is to carry around FAKE drugs. U look really cool, but when the police search u they realize it's just a bag of flour and/or headache pills.Gasser wrote:you're kidding right???MoodyMac wrote:Is this some sort of new trend? Anybody get drunk last night? Or the night before? Anybody not remember what they do when they are drunk?
Anybody get in a fight when they were drunk? Run over somebody in their car?

What are you so crazed about? Don't drink enough is my guess. C'mon folks. There is a difference between ganja and speed (ice).
And alcohol has always killed a million times more people than pot...
oh - the horror - somebody smoking something relatively harmless. Let's kill them - they deserve it. They deserve everything they get.
And the comments on these young peoples' looks - pretty pathetic. Bunch of old and very handsome, well dressed, articulate people here, I guess.

Sure sounds like a bunch of ex-pats I know.
Maybe some of you guys should smoke a joint. Better than being arrogant, violent, stupid drunks!
And certainly better than being badly dressed and smelly stupid drunks!!!
