Cheap flights?
Cheap flights?
Hi,
I'm due to go back to the UK in June for a couple of weeks (I have the flight already) but need to get a flight from UK to Cambo. Can't really find anything for less that £400 all-in, one way, which seems a lot. Any ideas?
I'm looking at flying to BKK, SGN etc as well as PNH to try and reduce costs, however, I fly from BKK in June so will have to get visa for that and then if I fly back into BKK I will probably need to pay for another visa which can add to the cost.
I've also looked at flying to KL and then AirAsia to PNH which is the cheapest option so far. Any other hubs like this in the area which I can then catch a cheap connecting flight to PNH?
Cheers.

Do I still get 30 days if I fly from PNH to BKK? And can I re-enter on thus visa if within the 30 days?Phuket2006 wrote:visa exempt; 30 days not 4 weeks on arrivalGoodoldkenny wrote:There's no charge for a visa going via BKK, you get 4 weeks free.

Flying to Singapore was over £450 so actually bumps up the price. Thanks though.SunSan wrote:Singapore, do the last leg on Jetstar.

If you arrive on a Thursday, you will get a stamp "admitted until" Friday four weeks later.
Speaking from the UK perspective.

It bears knowing that as budget airlines do not pay a commission, most on line services like Kayak don't include them in searches.
Once you know where and when you are going, jump on the internet and check out the obvious budget airlines directly. You're certain to pick up some good deals, almost always considerably cheaper than the search results. Be flexible with dates if you can as you'll sometimes save quite a lot.
Air Asia, Cebu Pacific and Jet Star come to mind for this area.

There are a few sites such as Utiket which are of interest for budget airline travel.Goodoldkenny wrote:It bears knowing that as budget airlines do not pay a commission, most on line services like Kayak don't include them in searches.

Obviously there is always a risk when planning a connection between two low cost airlines!
btw, sites such as Air Asia Plus allow selection of the best price for AirAsia, CebuPacific, Tiger, JetStar... if your travel dates are not fixed.

"Visa on arrival: 'They must have a "confirmed return ticket' to show that they are flying out of Thailand within 30 or 15 days of entry, as appropriate. Open tickets do not qualify. Travelling overland out of Thailand by train, bus, etc to Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia (including en route to Singapore), Myanmar, etc is not accepted as proof of exiting Thailand."

Well to the point, I give all my documents included return air-tickets at the visa counter. If not, The DO or can&could ask fore! And be sure in case you don't have a ticket to leave the country, The will bring you to a travel agency to buy one, And this could be Very expensive!
Why not buy a return ticket? NO need to buy a visa or taking the risk to be asked fore a return-ticket.
I found prices departure June&July (one of the most expensive period to fly) return-flight, Heathrow to Bangkok 447£.
In case you return to the U.K on a yearly base, 557£ with Turkish Airlines, Heathrow > Bangkok.
A friend was flying a year ago(?) with Biman-Bangladesh Airlines with a night over in Dakar, London to Bangkok fore 351£. I have never see him again
If you want to buy&fly from the U.K. to Cambodia you will have to add several hundreds of British pounds on top from the above prices. It is June&July you want to fly. "June for a couple of week"
And in case you have already a Cambodian visa why not go overland if you have the return ticket London > Bangkok > London.
Or buy a ticket from Air Asia, Bangkok > Phnom-Penh, when your luggage don't exceed the maximum weight?

As Frans said the cheapest flights Bkk - Ldn are in no paticular order Jet Airways, Air India and Eva. Eva is direct the other 2 stop in India for a couple of hours. Delhi has a better terminal than Mumbai, it's newer and you can use pounds, dollars and baht to pay for food in the food court. I thought Air Indian was slightly better than Jet as the plane was bigger on the India - Bkk leg.
The Ukrainian national airline is cheaper but it means 20 hours in a Kiev airport both ways. Not ideal. During the European football championships.

I ended up getting a return with Etihad-£477 return MAN-BKK. will have to pay a fee though to change the return date to a later date (current return date in Sept), but still a good price nonetheless.
Thanks for all the tips and advice.
