Postcard from Sihanoukville
by Kenneth S. Vye
I got here today
and the place seems to be
just the same as it was,
apart from some
new hotels.
It is no more
or less scruffy;
a cop
attempted to
pull me over
but I told him
in Khmer
that I had everything
so he should leave me alone
and rode off.
I realised later
that the rental moto
from Aqua
did have one little problem---
no plate.
There were less flies
than usual
at the beach,
the catamaran speed boats
were doing a roaring trade
to the islands
and there were
a lot of Chinese
tourists.
I wonder what
they think
of the place?
