Qatar Air Promotion
Checked it this morning, prices are OK, but every outbound flight is through Ho Chi Minh, adding a lot of time to your trip. Connections in Doha are also pretty bad for the PNH-DOH flight, so check your schedule carefully. Trip to Europe ended up taking well over 24 hrs for me, return trip much better taking 16 hours, at 650 USD per person for three (one child) it seems a nice deal, bot nothing really special.

I always wondered... why HCMC first?
2 more people got on the flight. Just the fuel they use on taxiing would eat up any profit from that.

Took them once, wouldn't do it again. Thai is a bit pricier but offers much better connections, to Europe anyway.
The prices on Qatar have always been pretty cheap, unfortunately it also always adds an extra 10 hours travel time with some terrible layovers.
Having a kid is exactly why I won't even consider them. The torture of a massive layover and 10 extra hours travel time with a child is not worth the savings.

Perfect for going to South Africa though (from BKK). Lay-over of less than an hour....GMJS-440 wrote:The prices on Qatar have always been pretty cheap, unfortunately it also always adds an extra 10 hours travel time with some terrible layovers.

Earlier this year it was only Bangkok Airways that had direct flights BKK - Cape Town but tickets were 50% more expensive.vladimir wrote:Don't Singapore Air fly direct anymore?Hanno wrote:Perfect for going to South Africa though (from BKK). Qatar used to be cheap but ever since they built that new airport, prices jacked up
From BKK is a totally different story, but that adds a ticket PNH-BKK plus at least one night to the price.Hanno wrote:Perfect for going to South Africa though (from BKK). But, the last two times, when flying to Europe (3 persons), I found either an open jaw (BKK-Europe-PNH) or BKK-Europe-BKK plus tickets PNH-BKK (or return) and hotel were much more convenient - but also not more expensive than flying from Phnom Penh on one ticket. Tickets from Phnom Penh seem to be bad value or really bad schedule.

Now that you mention it, that's true. Prices for my destination used to be very good, but have certainly since the new airport was built. Still, they're one of few airlines with direct flights from their hub to my city. Only problem as many have mentioned are the terrible layover times.JimSocks wrote:Qatar used to be cheap but ever since they built that new airport, prices jacked up

Thai airways has a good companion fare promotion for flights from Phnom Penh, http://www.thaiairways.com/en/plan_my_t ... e_GV2.page?
