Does anyone know if there are any bus companies going from Phnom Penh (or possibly Siem Reap) across the border and on to Vientiane, in the same way many go from Phnom Penh to Saigon?
Thanks.

That's around 900-1000 km and would be a horrible horrible experience.

" bus departs from Phnom Penh bus station at 6:45am and arrives in Pakse around 12-13 hours later. A change of bus in Pakse, then resumes the journey around 8:00-8:30pm, and arrives in Vientiane around 6:00am the next morning"

Not far off, LPB. I traveled to Pakse; 'twas the single worst bus trip ive taken in Asia. Nonetheless, the way back managed to top that because of the Indochina bus rule:
Vietnam Bus > Cambodian Bus > Laos Bus
The "roadhouses" en route offer a delicious variety of pot o' dysentery or 2 minute noodles. So you will arrive with that delightful MSG stomach hollowness. In hindsight 2000 mg of diazepam or 1 large extra happy pizza are essential provisions for PP -> Pakse.
PP -> Vientienne via bus is simply suicidal. Take a plane for the love of god.

Haha - my money’s on Playboy
Maybe slavedog is shipping something and doesn't worry too much about the long way. He's not exactly scared of flying...

..... 2000 mg of diazepam...
i take max 20 mg and that knocks me out for hours
I just did 2 bus trips in Burma; a 11 hour night trip (Inle lake to Magway) than an 12 hour night trip ( Magway to Mrauk U) NEVER EVER again.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, this would be for sending stuff, not humanity, so a vehicle that goes all the way over the border would be what we're looking for, ideally.
I think it's a long shot, but if there is one please let me know.
Cheers.

I just read a story on reddit complaining about the bus trip into Laos, having to change multiple times to increasingly smaller and dodgier vehicles, etc.
