Indeed, also not for Air Asia. The surcharge depends on the payment method you select.gavinmac wrote:This isn't true.epidemiks wrote: Yes, all airlines charge $15-30 for online booking.
Cheaper Airline PP to BKK Than Air Asia?
The surcharge depends on the payment method you select.
For Air Asia if you pay w ordinary Mastercard or Visa, what's the surcharge?

Hard to say, depends on the country your journey starts in and if it's a one way- or return ticket, and maybe other factors.otis wrote:The surcharge depends on the payment method you select.

For a return ticket PNH-DMK it's about 10 USD if I remember well, but the other way around it's cheaper than 340 THB which is the equivalent.
It really isn't that hard to just go to Air Asia's website and go through the whole process except for the payment. Before they ask for your card details they will tell you the exact surcharge for that ticket.
In particular... is any one airline from PP to BKK better in business class than the others???

I think the Thai Air Asia "business class" on this route just gives you a regular sized seat at the front of the plane with the middle seat next to you blocked.
Follow my lame Twitter feed: @gavin_mac
Not wanting to state the obvious...
Air Asia does not fly to BKK, it flies to DMK.

No blocked seats, same 3-3 configuration as the rest of the plane, although 'hot seats' do not fill up with reservations as fast as regular seats. I've flown Air Asia several times while the seats at the emergency doors (hot seats because of extra legspace) over the wing were empty.gavinmac wrote:I think the Thai Air Asia "business class" on this route just gives you a regular sized seat at the front of the plane with the middle seat next to you blocked.

Yes, perhaps when he's graduated to wrangling with the process of booking a flight on Virgin Galactic a blow by blow account would be interesting. That's going to be much closer to rocket science.
You called?
Well let's see if AA is crooked. I booked tickets from Phnom Penh to Chiang Mai for 3 people, myself included. When the system first quoted me a price it listed a whole bunch of charges such as airport fee and added them up and gave me a net figure. But no ""processing fee"".
Then you to go through steps of filling in the name and identifying information of all the passengers and picking or not picking a number of meal packages and baggage packages that are offered. Then the system picks an insurance charge for you that you have to reject twice if you don't want it.
Then you have to choose and pay for baggage charges for each passenger. You then need to check an acceptance of the terms of service and go on to fill in complete credit card information to pay for the tickets. All of the writing on all of these steps is reasonably bold and big.
But when you come to the last page on which you accept the charges, a very big, very dark printed number appears in the upper right of the page giving the strong impression that that is the charge that is going to be made against your credit card. But on the left is a notice in tiny letters about one-tenth the size of the big dark figure and in very light type much much lighter than any type anywhere on any page you’ve seen. It says that each passenger will be assessed a $12 ""processing fee"" which is not in any way avoidable. It is automatically added on to the big figure on the right and that larger amount is instantly charged to your credit card.
When you get your confirmation email you do not get any kind of itemized bill. All you get is an itinerary and a net figure. It is impossible to get an itemized bill any other way than by going physically to an Air Asia office.
Also it is impossible to phone AirAsia for any reason. It is substantially impossible to communicate with them by their chat system. If you have doubt, just try.

Their web-site states,
To ensure that our guests are provided a comfortable and safe booking environment, AirAsia has invested substantially to expand, implement and maintain our online systems and especially, to upgrade, enhance and improve the security features for online booking and payments. The Processing Fee is a charge related to the ongoing administrative, maintenance and developmental costs of our online systems.

As would be the anti-odiferous evvironmental fee, disclosed in suitably tiny and obscure type, that I propose to charge
Air Asia for the labor and soap iknvolved in flying in recently washed jockey shorts.
