What costs $140? Americans don't need a visa to visit Hong Kong.

Quiz question...monomial wrote:Wow...they really hate Americans don't they. I was just curious and checked. $20 for Cambodians, $30 for every other country except the USA, and $140 for USA passports.GMJS-440 wrote:No deposit requirement. Cheaper for her compared to mine for HK, as a "Murrican
That's just plain rude....
Guess what the price is for a US visa for Chinese?
It's plain reciprocity.
Fucking Chinese trying to get one over on us.

Has anyone ever had a Khmer girlfriend denied a tourist visa to Hong Kong, just on the basis of "you're too poor, we think you'll overstay."

Here's a guide to the necessary forms and documents, no idea if these are really required.GMJS-440 wrote:No deposit requirement. It was basically no requirement besides having valid passport and paying standard fee.

Does it really take four weeks to get the visa like this says?

I don't recall it taking very long at all, i went over a year ago (after the policy date).
I thought it took days to get it for a Cambodian, but just send an email to one of the agents to confirm as I don't want to lead anyone astray.
gavinmac, you taking one of your girlfriends? Take her to Disney HK, it wouldn't be weird.

I hope it doesn't take 4 weeks, otherwise she'll not be joining me. Flights and hotel booked already. My partner will be joining me. Will apply next month and hope it works.

Looking at the requirements, it says, officially, applicants should submit documentation proof of employment and/or approved leave from employment and a bank statement. No idea if that's required by the Chinese embassy in Cambodia.
Does the applicant have to be middle class by Cambodian standards to get the visa, or could I take a harem of Street 130 bargirls on a busman's holiday to Wan Chai?

BTW, i saw someone else posted they got the visa for a Khmer GF in a number of days but the post was from 2014. So I am now more certain my memory was not faulty in this regards.
I went to an agent and we didn't need to give anything. My missus was a dental nurse but they didn't care about any of that. (as of circa 1.5 years ago). I liked that our hotel had a nice lobby, Guinness draft and close to subway https://www.booking.com/hotel/hk/harbourplazan.html
Doesn't seem like a "bargirl" environment though Take em to Bangkok, they love that shit.

That's a little like taking your own sand to the beach. Or would it be more cost-effective than paying Wan Chai prices?gavinmac wrote:Looking at the requirements, it says, officially, applicants should submit documentation proof of employment and/or approved leave from employment and a bank statement.
