I flew from Don Muang to Phnom Penh recently and the Air Asia check in staff were hassling some people checking in ahead of me. Not sure if they were flying to Cambodia, but there was an animated discussion about visa on arrival, onward ticket requirement, did they have proof of a bus ticket, etc. It was a major hold up to the entire tucking line, not sure if they ultimately had to buy onward tickets or not.

Not in Cambodia, but i genuinely got asked by a border immigration guy -"Where are you from?", after he handed me back my passport not so long ago.
I bet the Chinese dont get asked if they've got a visa when entering the KOW.
Just saying like...

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
yeah, eva air asked me yesterday on my way here leaving from jfk for an onward ticket.
i told the woman that onward tickets were no longer necessary for cambodia seeing that most people leave the country via bus or train etc.
she momentarily insisted that i must have an onward ticket. i said i'm not going to buy a ticket just to cancel it because i might extend my stay, and that i'm going to be taking a train into thailand, then take a flight to taiwan. i also explained that i'd be happy to sign a waver so the airline isn't held responsible if i were to be refused entry as a result of not having said ticket.
she said, please wait a moment. after checking, she told me not to worry about it and that i was right, though she wasn't aware of this policy previously.
