Visa expiring tomorrow. Couple of questions about processing time for new visa.
Visa expiring tomorrow. Couple of questions about processing time for new visa.
I have a business visa due to expire tomorrow 22nd. I had a few problems recently and I completely forget about it. I have tried to speak to the moto company who have my passport but today and yesterday they were shut. What is the normal processing time for new visa? So if I went through the moto company in snooks and get them to extend it, how many overstay days do you think I would get by the time it gets back here? Another question was if I went to PP tomorrow to the immigration place opposite the airport I can apply for a visa here right? But do they do it then and there on spot or do you still have to wait x amount of days?
Better expect to pay a small fine, 4-5 days seems realistic. Today's still Pchum Benh and there's only a small chance they will be open tomorrow. Saturday or Monday seems more realistic. Ask them how long to take it to Immigration and you will know how many days. Multiply with the fine, although your agent will probably charge you beforehand.modric187 wrote:I have a business visa due to expire tomorrow 22nd. I wouldn't count on the Immigration Dept resuming normal operations until Monday.
My advice, do it through an agent, don't try going to the Immigration Dept yourself (they don't do it on the spot unless you pay extra for express processing, also they will ask you for supporting documentation, it's a pain in the ass and you're still unlikely to be charged only the official fee).
Overstay fine will be charged up until the day your new EOS is processed, if that happens Monday, which is highly unlikely, then you'll only pay a $30 fine, I'd say Wed is more likely.
Hope for the best, expect the worst.

Are you absolutely sure about that?PSD_Kiwi wrote: Overstay fine will be charged up until the day your new EOS is processed, if that happens Monday, which is highly unlikely, then you'll only pay a $30 fine, I'd say Wed is more likely.
I had a different experience albeit a few years back. They told me then that as long as docs were lodged and I had a receipt dated on or before the expiry date I would be grand. I didn't have to pay any overstay fees.
Maybe things have changed, maybe I just got them on a good day...

All depends on the agent you use, if they have a good relationship with the Immigration Dept then hopefully you'll only pay the fine up until the time you submit the passport to the agency, but technically you will continue to accrue overstay days until your passport is in the hands of an Immigration officer and the EOS is being processed.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:Are you absolutely sure about that?PSD_Kiwi wrote: Overstay fine will be charged up until the day your new EOS is processed, if that happens Monday, which is highly unlikely, then you'll only pay a $30 fine, I'd say Wed is more likely.

The OP is getting more responsible. He's asking for advice about a visa expiring tomorrow. That's being proactive. Last year, he asked for advice about a visa expiring that day.

That was a wonderful thread...as I remember a large part of it discussing the quality of Khmer glue.gavinmac wrote:The OP is getting more responsible. He's asking for advice about a visa expiring tomorrow. That's being proactive. Last year, he asked for advice about a visa expiring that day.
Speaking of glue, my most recent EOS which I obtained in person at the Immigration Dept about 6 mths ago hasn't shown any signs of coming unstuck yet, so they must've read that thread and invested in a stronger glue
