No buying beer in Thailand from 2-5?
I apologize for my ignorance, but you can’t buy beer at a store in Thailand between 2 and 5 PM? Before that is OK, in a bar is OK, but not mid afternoon? What’s the deal with this - is it always this way, or just a new thing in Bangkok?

I don't spend much time in Thailand but I have been there many times and I believe that's been the law for quite a few years.Miguelito wrote:I apologize for my ignorance, but you can’t buy beer at a store in Thailand between 2 and 5 PM? Coconuts are good when you don't feel like a beer yet.

It has been the enforced law in the large supermarket/shop chains for a few years now.
Mum & Pops places still sold whenever they were opened.
In the North-East at the moment the police are also enforcing it bars.
I am not sure if the current enforcement in bars is related to the usual road carnage
at this time of the year & will quietly go away in January or if will now be the norm.

been law for many many years, has to do with schoolkids buying when class got out,
Kinda weird law as they can just wait till 5 pm. or buy when they skip class in the morning
note it ONLY apples to small quantities,u can still buy a case of beer or case of wine.
does not apply to bars or restaurants.

In all reality, it is pretty easy to buy a beer any time of the day, just not in 7/11's and the like.

That’s funny thinking. How about they just don’t sell to school aged kids?Phuket2006 wrote:been law for many many years, has to do with schoolkids buying when class got out,
