I have 2 weeks off in February, I have a flight credit from airasia and a desire to go "somewhere". Honestly have no idea but preferably somewhere with few tourists.

Where have you been before and what do you like and how much is the flight credit?
Follow my lame Twitter feed: @gavin_mac
does AA fly to Lao and myanmar ? If you want few tourists those would be good
I'll also post a few pics of a place I went to last month, a few hours from KL by train then bus/car then boat, a very quiet and relaxing island off the beaten track.

I've been to Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Taiwan in the past year. Credit is for $250 usd IIRC but I can make up the difference with cashgavinmac wrote:Where have you been before and what do you like and how much is the flight credit?
They fly to Myanmar, that's actually what the credit is from as they frequently cancel entire legs on short notice there. It is near the top of my list but I'm a little leary using airasia for this route after the last cancellation.logos wrote:does AA fly to Lao and myanmar ? If you want few tourists those would be good

Thanks logos, this is actually a pretty amazing idea. Even covers all my favourite things for travelling. Trains, boats, beaches and online booking. [emoji106] Definitely going to look into this.logos wrote:This is a good destination for a relaxing short trip
Pangkor island
Fly to KL
Train to Ipoh, easy to book online. Trains are pretty full on week ends , advance booking essential.
Bus or uber to Lumut, where a short ferry ride brings you to the island.
A few pics of the ferry and island :

Fly into Mandalay via Bangkok, Myanmar an spend 2 weeks making ur way south to Yangon via boats, trains, bus's and than return from there.
Great country, great people and although there will be tourist nothing like other countries experience during this time.
I have made over 50 trips on air Asia, ( 7 into Myanmar over the past 2 1/2 years) never had one cancelled. so kind of wrong to say they " frequently cancel entire legs on short notice there"

Well, I'm my defence my flight was originally cancelled then rebooked then that flight got cancelled again. So, I guess cancelled frequently for me [emoji854]. I have a friend there and he says pretty much the same thing about the people and country as well so it is definitely up on the list... somewhere.Phuket2006 wrote:Fly into Mandalay via Bangkok, Myanmar an spend 2 weeks making ur way south to Yangon via boats, trains, bus's and than return from there.
