I have been reading on more than one VN facebook site about new rules for Europeans trying to go across the border there and being turned away. Not a word about it on here or TOF. I am supposed to go over in a few days. When does VN close it to all foreigners? When to Cambodians? This is a fucked up situation for sure. I am surprised I hear no mention of it here.

Thanks. It appears this has gone way past the health declaration. Someone posted a picture of a page of nationalities on FB listing over 20 countries, almost all European banned from entering regardless of the declaration. I hope it doesn't extend to Canada. Fingers crossed!

Here's the official statement released today.
http://news.chinhphu.vn/Home/Govt-tempo ... /39094.vgp
+Emphasis mine. The Government has decided to temporarily suspend visa-wavier program for citizens from Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Spain amid complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic.
The latest move was announced by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a meeting on COVID-19 prevention and control, held in Ha Noi on Monday morning.
Earlier, the Government also decided to temporarily halt unilateral visa exemption for citizens from Italy (on March 2) and South Korea (on February 28) in a bid to contain spread of the virus to Viet Nam.

Already got that, no worries. I am talking about people from Europe being turned away not from the visa exempt countries. If I find the photo I was talking about on FB I will post it.

A girl just called tan son nhat airport and got this info....
UPDATE: so I decided to call to TSN airport for clear information and they said:
From March 7, all people arriving in Vietnam must complete the health declaration.
Temporarily, travelers from China, S. Korea, Iran and Italy are banned. Except if they are diplomats.
Visa exceptions have been suspended for the EU and other countries part of the ASEAN. They will only be able to enter if they have a tourist visa issued in their country of residence in advanced, and each case will be analyzed in a particular way to determine if quarantine is necessary (it means that there is no mandatory quarantine for people who simply came from the EU and UK- except for Italy)
Travelers coming from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan can come in normally, they should fill out the health form and will not be quarantined as long as they do not show symptoms (this one doesn't make any sense to me.. considering how strict are the other measures.. but ok)
The most important thing to know is that each case is being analyzed separately. So we can't make sure. I exposed my particular situation and informed that mostly they should be fine, but things could change any minute.

Here's a link to the Medical Declaration Form. There are long delays at the border and you can fill this in advance.

It seems that you can only get a visa from your home country, and even then you may not get in or be quarantined for 14 days. That pretty much closes the border for the majority of tourists, I would say. I wonder what all the people needing to do visa runs will do?
It will probably be ok to get a visa letter from inside Vietnam, but it's open to debate. And what will the Cambodian authorities do when you cross over, or the Viet immigration do when you try to get back in? It will likely depend on future developments.
It's all up in the air atm.

Well that puts me in a bit of a grey area. I have a 3 month multiple obtained here in Cambodia over a month ago so I have no need to get one on arrival or from my home country which is Canada, not yet blacklisted. I sure as fuck hope it stays that way. Guess I will have to wait and see. Worst case pay inflated short notice fares for a new route home. Already having to hit up Korean for a refund after they changed both my flights.
Restrictions have been put in place hindering travelers from China, South Korea, Iran, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Finland, England, France, Germany and Sweden.
https://www.vietnam-evisa.com/vietnames ... nationals/According to the latest updates on March 09th , Vietnam Government just approved to stop visa waiver programme for UK passport holders and seven other European countries, including Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France and Spain. These countries citizens must apply visa when coming to Vietnam from now on.
These countries can get visa exemption maximum 15 days when coming to Vietnam previously. However, due to the nCovid-19 epidemic is spreading quickly and dangerously, especially in Europe, Vietnam government has announced to suspend visa exemption for most European countries, including United Kingdom.
However, United Kingdom citizens still can apply visa to enter Vietnam as before. The procedure is quite simple. Applicants just need to fill out the online application form and wait for 2 working days of processing. The visa result will be sent to email after it’s approved.
Vietnam visa for United Kingdom is 1-month and 3-month types, which can be entered once or multiple times. The documents for visa application are very simple, just fill out the application form, no documents are required.
