I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

The old style passports can be extended, but not renewed. You can only apply for a passport renewal in Cambodia.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 3:16 pmCan they be renewed outside Cambodia?
Passport Extension
Eligible:
- Passport must not issued before 2011
- Extension must not have been made more than twice.
NOTE: Passport must be an old version with extension page available on the front.
If your passport is not eligible for extension, you can request for Emergency Travel Document to travel back to Cambodia to obtain a new Cambodian Passport.

LL is of course correct, a Cambodian passport is more challenging to travel on. Nevertheless, if my kids had had one, I suppose they wouldn't need to get K visas now. They could enter and depart most countries on their Western passport - showing both their Cambodian passport and Western one to the airline, could enter Cambodia on their Cambodian passport, and within ASEAN could choose the most suitable passport according to need. It is all new to me, is this a correct understanding of how dual nationality and dual passports work?
Also, they wouldn't now need a Covid-19 test!
(Not sure if the following still fits best in this thread, or a new one?)
Understood that Cambodian passports can only be applied for in Cambodia. Many thanks again PSD-Kiwi! However, getting passports while there will still be a bit involved. Not all my kids were born in Cambodia, and those that were not have no Cambodian birth certificates, or ID, or appear in any Family Books. The kids that were born in Cambodia were never in a Family book either, but they did have their hospital birth records officially issued and certified at the Commune and District levels.
More messy still, our marriage certificate is Western, not Cambodian and, as I'm older than 50, I have no idea if we are legally married in Cambodia. Does anyone know? ((The last time we bought Hard-Title land in Cambodia, 2017, the local Land Management Office eventually said they couldn't issue title unless my wife signed as a single woman, disconcerting as the deal was all done weeks earlier and local land management had had a copy of our marriage certificate the whole time! Happily, that was never an issue with soft title.))
Anyone have suggestions what to use with Khmer Passport applications in lieu of a Cambodian Birth Certificate?
Can I legally be on the Cambodian Family Book as husband and Father?

Indeed, Mr. Horace. And it seems only yesterday I was feeling sorry for YOU, with your then predicament of expiring ATM cards, approaching cold weather, and general, temporary frustration with how the world sometimes wilfully misbehaves!
Happy, the world once again seems to be treating you right. It'll eventually work that way too for me.

If your child has a K Visa in their foreignn passport and the foreign passport expires but the K Visa is still valid , what happens to the K Visa in that passport ? I guess you just carry the old passport with you and present both ?

If the passport was made after 2011 she can apply for two extensions at nearest Cambodian Consular by mail.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 5:51 am

I merely answered your question about whether you should start a new thread. Perhaps guest cannot do that , I don't know, maybe you have fo register to start one!Guest999 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 7:35 amIndeed, Mr. Horace. k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Your kids will need to be formally registered via the Department of Identification, obtain official Cambodian birth certs and be added to your wifes Family Book and/or Carnet de Residence to be eligible to apply for Cambodian passports.Guest999 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 1:51 amLL is of course correct, a Cambodian passport is more challenging to travel on. You would know if you were legally married in Cambodia because it is a ball ache of a process. Your marriage abroad is not recognised in Cambodia.
No you cannot be added to a Cambodian Family Book.or Carnet de Residence if not legally married in Cambodia.
The Cadastral followed the correct procedure when issuing your hard title, as your overseas marriage is not legally recognised by Cambodian law, therefore your wife is legally recognised in Cambodia as Single.
