Nothing I do is a good idea. I’m not really into western cuisine, I pretty much been doing a rice diet for the last 4 months eating only rice and fish to lose weight
How long would $6,000 last in Phnom Pehn?

More in Bangkok, 10-15% less in Pattaya, 20-25% less in nakorn nowhereZ3RO wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 5:09 pmDoesn’t sound too bad, actually. Is that onlyPhuket2006 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 5:05 pmThailand is open, 2 month visa apx $40 and 1 month extension $60
ur first apx $1,500-$1,800 will go towards 15 nights quarantine,
Than $4,500 at $800-1,000/month easy to get a nice air con room in Phuket for $220-250/month, rent a bike for $150, food $300/month,
than go home

Travel half way around the world to visit the Benidorm of Asia.
Goa has replaced Thailand and SE Asia for a beach holiday. More laid back. Great food. No charges for beach chairs. Better climate.
People more open than Thailand.

Three years is a drop in the ocean, especially when considering quality over quantity. No Joke got himself really messed up here, this country will chew you up and spit you out really fast if you aren't smart - don't be like No Joke.Z3RO wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 5:10 pmNJH was out there for 3 years, I’d say that’s a decent runLucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 4:38 pmNo Joke was pretty clueless and didn't last long, his embassy had to bail him out so I wouldn't take much he said seriously. You realize 3K works out to about $8 a day?

It’s scary that people take NJH seriously when considering coming over here yet seem to be ignoring the likes of lucky Lucan who is one of the most grounded expats around.
Zero - NJH was mentally ill and ended up being repatriated by his embassy. Within months of leaving the country he committed suicide. He is NOT an example to follow.
That’s not exactly true. He lived in America for a long time before moving to Mexico where he lived for a year or so before dying from a heart attack in the shower.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 6:53 pmWithin months of leaving the country he committed suicide.
Quoting his mother:
My son was found in the shower deceased in fetal position on the shower floor. He had been in a hot shower for over 40 hours following his death. Because of the nature of his body, evidence found and the neighbor incident - it was initially a Homicide Investigation. After a full investigation performed by the police there was NO FOUL PLAY whatsoever, involved. He died from a massive heart attack which I will disclose that information later in the story.
In months prior to his death he had complained of feeling fatigued and was doing everything to maintain a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise. He had complained of not being able to urinate. Saw a urologist after his hand surgery and he gave him meds to help him with that. They wanted to do testing with a tube inserted into his urethra and he left saying, "No thanks, I'm good". The was the last thing he googled at 8:26 am, Sunday, May 5th, 2019 was that he could not pee. Which may explain him getting in the shower to help that. He did however, smoke cigarettes and cigars, occasionally.

That's the kicker. We don't know how long lock-downs and sudden rule changes will last. No-one does.
Stay where you have some family and a fall-back position in case this thing rolls on for longer than we all imagine.
If you can land work in SE Asia then by all means turn up. If not $6,000 will keep you going for several months if you are careful however if it runs out and you can't get back to your safety net due to rule changes then things deteriorate very quickly indeed.
Given the uncertainty, $6,000 isn't enough.
That’s what I’m afraid of, getting stuck and running out of money. So what would you consider “enough”?Prahok wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 8:27 pmThat's the kicker. We don't know how long lock-downs and sudden rule changes will last. No-one does.

Well thank fuck they tightened up the visa situation even pre COVID and dumb asses like this can't get even enter the Kingdom anymore. We were all getting a bit bored of dead idiot tourists being found dead in flophouses.

Merely the fact of having finite funds in Cambodia is on a hiding to nowhere. Unless it is an exercise to prove to oneself how frugal/minimalist you can be while being an 'extended tourist', expect hardship.

Dude, are you on a one way journey?
Your nic sure does look ominous.
Your story looks sadly familiar.
Njh also was on a one way journey but very few if any picked up on it.
