I’ve got $6,000 cash, yeah I know it’s not much. But I’m looking to get into the SE Asian Region and wait out this COVID bullshit.
Is it worth it for me to book a flight right now? How long would 6k last me if I don’t party and I just rent an apartment and go swimming in pools? I’ve never been to Cambodia, btw
Originally I wanted to go to the Philippines but that’s probably not happening until 2022, it seems.
Please try not to be pessimistic and toxic, I can’t stand those people.
How long would $6,000 last in Phnom Pehn?
You won’t get a visa unless you work in Cambodia. Contact a Cambodian embassy and ask their requirements. Good luck.
I was under the impression Cambodia was open for tourism if you paid the deposit for quarantine? Is it not? Maybe I’m Mistaken... either way could you give me info on how long $6,000 could last over there?

350 - 450 a month for rent (unless you go really basic)
10 -15 a day for food and pool
5 a day minimum for transport unless you buy a scooter
50-100 A month for bills Depending on how much air con you use
If you shared accommodation you could reduce your two major overheads

Tourist visas are suspended entirely. Cambodia is closed for tourists. Even if it was open a tourist may stay maximum 2 months.
The $2,000 deposit is for those who obtain other types of visas from Cambodian embassies, for example people who are employed and work in Cambodia.
I’d say that $6,000 would last you around 3-4 months depending on what (more importantly where) you spend on accommodation, food and booze.
It depends on what kind of standard of living you are looking for. You would get more bang for your buck in Thailand for example but they’re also closed.
I just want to live as basics as humanly possible and eat cheap as well. As I said, I never party. I don’t drink or smoke. I just want to go swimming and hangout. Seems not feasible at the moment I guess I need to save more money.
I thought 6k in Cambodia could last 1 year or more. According to YouTube cost of living they say NO JOKE HOWARD says 3K lasted him a year

It’s doable but hard for a newcomer with a Western stomach and honestly it’s just not a good idea. Being homeless in your own country is probably better than living in Cambodia on $250 a month.

No Joke was pretty clueless and didn't last long, his embassy had to bail him out so I wouldn't take much he said seriously. You realize 3K works out to about $8 a day?

Thailand is open, 2 month visa apx $40 and 1 month extension $60
ur first apx $1,500-$1,800 will go towards 15 nights quarantine,
Than $4,500 at $800-1,000/month easy to get a nice air con room in Phuket for $220-250/month, rent a bike for $150, food $300/month,
than go home
