INCREDIBLE SNAKE TEMPLE CAMBODIA
INCREDIBLE SNAKE TEMPLE CAMBODIA
This week we are surrounded by many stone snakes & see engineering on par with anything at Stonehenge, a truly great temple, some of the stone blocks are just colossal.

May i be so forward as to enquire about your age?

Why is Stonehenge cited as an engineering paragon?
The pyramids, Angkor, Tenochtitlán, fair enough.

Stonehenge is such a marvel when you consider no metal for tools and pre-dated the wheel.
Another temple enthusiast, also worth watching, is a chap called Praveen Mohan. He questions where did this superior craftsmanship come from and suggests machines such as lathes were used to turn the stone pillars. His observations are fascinating.

Probably because it is 1000 years older than the pyramids, 3000 years older than Angkor Wat, etc. The only other place in the world with stone structures as old as Stonehenge is Caral the sacred city of the Chavin culture in Peru where the first pyramids were known to be built.bargain basement wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 5:24 pmWhy is Stonehenge cited as an engineering paragon?

^^ I don't know much about the Maltese structures other than they were built around the same time but over a much longer period.

Is that Malta too? Have you been to Malta? If so how do the structures compare in size to Stonehenge? I think the amazing thing about Stonehenge is the size of the slabs and that they were carved and carried from a totally different area! The amazing thing about Caral is that it was an actual city of 3,000 with an outlying population of 30,000. It had temples, pyramids, a sundial, and an amphitheatre long before any other civilisation in Europe.

That I didn't know. Did it not occur to them while they were whipping the slaves to push the Welsh tree trunks over the hills, hey we should cut a piece off each end of the tree and stick an axle in the middle?Dylan Quint wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 4:48 amand pre-dated the wheel.

There's an interview with Mr B here:
https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50858911/f ... -to-expat/Bonini started filming about six months ago and he started ‘Forgotten Temples Cambodia’ on YouTube.
“It all started as I went to see my first lost temple and took a photo. When I posted that photo on Facebook it did not do justice to that temple, so I went back and I did a very short video with me behind the camera,” he explained.
“However, that did not do justice either as it did not show the excitement of finding this wonderful temple, a temple that was lost to all but the locals. So, I stepped in front of the camera to inject enthusiasm and try to encourage people to see what I saw, which was sites of great beauty and history,” said Bonini.
Bonini publishes 10-minute videos twice every week of temples that lay neglected. He added: “Cambodia is littered with temples and it amazes me that the Khmer Empire is comparable to the Roman Empire and these temples have never been catalogued in this way.”
He fears that some of the smaller forgotten temples are being destroyed, mostly by nature and when they’re gone they would be gone forever. Bonini wants to urge the Cambodians to restore these small ancient temples by placing replica statues inside.Bonini is 52-years-old now and his hobby is temple hunting. “I have built a house here and I have transferred all my investments here. I will die here I think,” he said with a smile.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
