Pre-booking Quarantine Hotels reintroduced 18 Jul 21
I stayed at the OK hotel for my 2nd quarantine, just before they implemented a 2 weeks duration for all. They're indeed easy going and I wouldn't mind quarantining there if I had the choice.
Update from guests in quarantine at Okay Boutique is that they are now confined to their rooms, no more cocktails on the rooftop..
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
The cocktails with mixed quarantine history would effectively render the quarantine useless (just as when quarantining Khmers in large groups in schools, party-halls, etc, where they can mix-up, etc).

Precisely...however based on all reports the Okay Boutique was the only quarantine hotel allowing guests to gather socially at the rooftop restaurant/bar with no preventative measures in place. Appears some Okay guests were bragging to their friends who were quarantined at the Sokha and confined to their rooms, who then complained to Sokha management, who in turn contacted the MoH, who then turned up at the Okay to give them a warning or face being removed as an approved quarantine hotel.

Fucking Brits can't help ruin a good thing first chance they get

You refer to Nojo with his Brexit ?
OK OK it was me. I can't see some poor family in Sokkha hung out to dry any longer.
I was released yesterday morning at 8am and, in a fit of pique, called the MoH.
Why should anyone else enjoy the relative freedoms I had for the past two weeks I thought.
I regret it now.

If you pre-book Sokha, is your experience going to be any different from other travelers sent to Sokha who didn't pre-book?
Or if you pre-book Sokha and your flight lands and EVERYONE on your flight gets sent to Sokha, are you going to feel like a total muppet who wasted his money?

You won't know, unless you are in close (phone/Internet) contact with the others, since quite at the beginning of the process the ASQ people are split off. So, there would be no waiting for the common transportation (and ASQ also promises to include PCR testing arranged by the hotel, so I assume done at the hotel).Hollister wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 11:12 amIf you pre-book Sokha, is your experience going to be any different from other travelers sent to Sokha who didn't pre-book?

Actually, it appears that the riff raff are departing on the mystery bus well before those who pre-booked. And PCR tests on arrival are conducted at the airport for everyone, even those who pre-book.

Aha, shocking, the Health ministry is reining over their grave ?
The ASQ conditions are pretty clear, that the hotel "package" does include 2 PCR tests.
Maybe, the pre-booked are held-off, so the Health ministry can find reasons to extort the USD 2K and keep their profit, instead of seeing all money go to the ASQ hotels.
PCR tests for USD 100 is pure profit, less than half for the factual lab costs and the rest goes into the pocket of those organizing. And with an already paid "doctor" on site, doing very little, the staff costs are also double charged ......
Not to speak about the costs for the "guard": USD 6 per day/person, with 2 guards on site, costing USD 6/day, total USD 36/day. Go figure, with 400 rooms occupied = USD 2400/day with a cost of USD 36/day. That's USD 72K vs. cost of USD 1K. Who is complaining.....
the 2x PCR tests are included in the package price....but the first test is conducted at the airport just like everyone else, they don't have to pay extra for it, same as last year when pre-booking was available.
Yea I agree some of the costs are exorbitant, but I look at it like this, the Government are providing free quarantine to its Citizens, and free treatment to Citizens & foreigners who test positive in-country, not to mention the free vaccines...so maybe some of the money they earn from foreigners quarantine on arrival costs goes towards helping fund the MoH to be able to provide those free services.
