I think I'll return to Cambodia in December. I've never seen the ocean or white sand and it would mean a lot if I saw it first in Cambodia. So I'm considering Koh Rong Sanloem. I just have a few questions/concerns I can't exactly find answered on Google:
- I'm thinking M'Pai Bay because there's a village and I'd love that. Saw some bad reviews about garbage being everywhere, is it that bad? Keep in mind I'm not that fancy. Plus, I'd also like to visit Lazy Beach (another part of the island) which I've read is quite nice anyway.
- Any recommendations on where to stay at either place? Also, when I travelled alone in Cambodia it got lonely (not for sex, just to share the experience); anybody stay down there or know anyone who does?
Further, and I know this is cliché and annoying to ask, but how safe is it travelling alone on the islands?
Any tips at all? Thanks
Might want to hit Koh Rong Sanloem when I return
Nice to hear from you, Nirvana.
Dunno about your questions, though, except I'd say it's safe.

Welcome back (later this year).
I struggle to understand how adults can have travelled the world and are yet to see the ocean. I guess that because I come from a relatively small island and 45 mins in several directions takes me to the coast.
I guess Nirvana, you are North American?
I've read similar reports to you regards the destinations but haven't been there myself.

If you are not that fancy/fussy, staying at Otto's is an experience not to be missed.
It's not hard. When flying to Cambodia from overseas, you just have to remember not to look out of the airplane window.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 10:41 am

Thank you.
I'm from Michigan so I'm almost completely surrounded by fresh water. Years ago somebody returned from California and very unenthusiastically told me the ocean looks like the Great Lakes so I never cared much. But now I'd like to at least see it.
Thanks! I'll look that up.Dylan Quint wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 11:02 amIf you are not that fancy/fussy, staying at Otto's is an experience not to be missed.

While that is true of many a seaside area - you are missing out if you never experience a surf beach - the majesty of an alive sea is quite something. Better yet, take up scuba diving and get out on the ocean.Nirvana wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:17 amផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 10:41 amWelcome back (later this year).

Sorry, can’t help with you questions.

We stay on KRS 3 or 4 times a year. Lovely place, especially during covid-quiet times. Moonlight Resort is our place of choice.
Looks like scuba diving is an option on KRS!
I was looking at that one, thank you!guest9 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 7:26 pmWe stay on KRS 3 or 4 times a year. Lovely place, especially during covid-quiet times. Moonlight Resort is our place of choice.
Do you visit the village?
