Saw this in the esteemed KTimes.
"Currently, there are 29 roads already built under China’s support and put into use in Cambodia, with a total length of more than 3,000 kilometres, as well as three projects under construction with a length of 363 kilometres."
My experience of the first batch of Chinese built roads was that they were very badly constructed, and not only needed normal minor post construction repairs, but major rebuilds after 2 years, and nearly complete rebuilds after 5 years. (Yes, overloaded trucks, but still.) E.G. the 2008(?) Kratie to Steung Treng road was almost un drivable by car 3 years after opening.
I understand they CAN do truly amazing engineering, but that wasn't my early experience in Cambodia.
What about now. Do you believe most of the Chinese inter city roads built in Cambodia in the last 10 years are good quality and will last, low/normal maintenance, for years and years?
