Hi, so it's been a while since any of us traveled and the first time for one of my kids. So, exit stamps:
1. I have a new passport, do I need to get an exit stamp or can I bring my old one?
2. My youngest has never traveled so has no stamps. She has Khmer and British (where we're going) passports. Do we need to get her an exit stamp?
Thanks for your help.
Exit stamps
For clarity - you are actually referring to Exit VISA - not Exit STAMP.
At passport control;
- Exit/Enter Cambodia on Cambodian passport
- Enter/Exit UK on British passport
It really is that simple, people seem to get so confused by this all the time.
As long as you still have a valid Visa/EOS in your old passport you do not need an Exit VISA, just present both old and new passports at passport control, the Immigration officer will put an Exit STAMP in your new passport.Guestagain wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 12:14 pmHi, so it's been a while since any of us traveled and the first time for one of my kids. No, your child will not require an Exit VISA. When checking-in show both passports - the UK Passport will confirm that the child is eligible for entry into the UK, and the Cambodian passport will show that an Exit VISA is not required and your child will get a $7 airport tax refund.Guestagain wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 12:14 pm2. I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
You'd think it was that simple but I am getting advice from a friend and also a travel agent that we need to get the exit visa. Odd.
I have been through this conversation countless times with people in the Visa group and on the forums...and every single one of them that followed my advice reported back that there were no issues, not to mention that this is exactly how MY kids travel (so that you know I'm not just talkin' out my ass, I actually have first hand experience)Guestagain wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 3:42 pmYou'd think it was that simple but I am getting advice from a friend and also a travel agent that we need to get the exit visa. - Exit/Enter Cambodia on Cambodian passport.
- Enter/Exit other countries on Kiwi passport
No need to muck around with Exit Visa and K-type Visa.
Same for your passport situation, myself and many others have been in the exact same situation and can confirm that as long as you still have a valid Visa/EOS in your old passport you do not need an Exit VISA, just present both old and new passports at passport control, the Immigration officer will put an Exit STAMP in your new passport.
Unfortunately the majority of visa/travel agents, and even DoI staff, are absolutely clueless about actual Immigration policies and procedures, some of the most reputable (I use that term very loosely) Visa agents are constantly incorrectly advising people, particularly in this situation and saying that they need an Exit Visa, which is one of the reasons we stopped recommending any visa agents in the Visa group, one of the most recommended agents (who I am guilty of recommending in the past) was telling people that their kids with a Cambodian and a Foreign passport needed an Exit Visa and she would arrange it for $100, it is in their interest to tell you it is needed.
Here is a comment posted just yesterday from someone who followed my advice instead of listening to Visa agents who have never actually had to go through the process...

I use that exact same method and never had any issues; however I have been 'double checked' in Germany and Spain previously on why I do it that way. Never any drama, just be nice to the immigration officer, explain the dual passports & off you go.

It all makes sense to met but just want to be sure in case there's some Cambodian thing I'm not aware of. Anyway, there is nothing like practical experience and it seems every is fine doing the passport method so I will do the same and my name to the list of those who traveled without issue (hopefully!)
