I’ve an upcoming family trip pretty soon.
First one in a while. I’ve just been researching flight options to discover that they are much more expensive than I expected - anyhow, it costs what it costs.
Google flights have now removed the option to book flights directly from their search. They now helpfully just link to a Google search for a ‘travel agent’.
I found some flights with decent timings thru Google flights on the dates that work for me but when I went to the airline website (and then a couple of booking sites) they couldn’t reproduce the route, timings or prices. Has anyone else experienced that?
Would it be worth my while printing out the schedule from Google flights then calling into the Singapore Airlines office and ask them to build the journey? Or maybe that’s just a waste of time… thoughts?

I have no experience of Google flights but Skyscanner does what you’re asking for - searches for the best flights and itineraries and then let’s you choose from a range of online booking sites.

Yeah, I also checked on Skyscanner and Kayak but they couldn’t replicate what GFlights returned.
Perhaps GoogleFlights have some fictitious routes listed?

I use google flights, skycanner, etc but just as a starting point to find flights. I aways book directly with the airline because if you have a problem on a route you do not have to call your ticket agent and then hope for relief. Ticket price is always the same. If you get hit with an unexpected delay....good luck calling orbitz, expedia and the like while you are on the road.

Ideally yea. But I’ve found that some airlines don’t offer the same connection routes as the booking websites. They seem to have differing parameters on what is a minimum acceptable transfer period.Sonic1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 11:40 amI use google flights, skycanner, etc but just as a starting point to find flights. Airlines are much more conservative. Saying that about 5 years ago I got a very short turnaround in Seoul (45 mins AFAIR) which was further shortened by a schedule change of 15 mins then a late arrival. I was a right pain in the hole to the airline as I sprinted thru the airport to board a plane which was fired and ready to go. To be fair to them they waited and even managed to get my luggage loaded.

hassle free. Manilla was the polar opposite when I flew through there in September and I would avoid that airport if I could. It took a solid 2 1/2 hours to get processed like cattle through all the covid protocalls. Then another 2 hour cramped wait and more checks while you wait for your departure. Basically 4 hours of waiting in line after line in a suck ass airport jam packed with all the ambiance and charm of an older Sorya bus station.

Usually, you still get the option to book directly with google flights. The only times I've experienced the link to search for a travel agent to book a flight was when the flights I was looking at involved multiple airlines that didn't have a partnership with each other.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 1:07 pmI’ve an upcoming family trip pretty soon.

No idea about Singapore Airlines, but I did provide flight times and numbers to a travel agent for a trip to Eastern Europe and they were able to match the fare.

I suspect these two things may be closely related.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 1:07 pmGoogle flights ... They now helpfully just link to a Google search for a ‘travel agent’.
