Immigration changes on the table
The DoI are currently working to amend Immigration Sub-decree 123, looks like they're planning to introduce stricter requirements such as mandatory insurance cover and sufficient funds, let's see how this plays out...

But just for tourists, not anyone planning on staying longer than it takes to see Angkor Wat, and some genocide tourism?
The discussion referred to in that post is mostly about additional requirements for those applying for long term Extensions of Stay, not tourists.

Will the MC Hammer pants contract still be valid?
I haven't bothered getting a work permit for years, thanks to the MCHP clause.

Just let your regular agent take care of it, pay the dues and move on from all the shirts and their incessant scribbling and tax increases, in the end it's all in circles. The fat rich will surely feel alone here with not a single loser to smile and look down on.

From what I’m hearing around and about this is becoming less true year on year. I suspect there’s going to be a lot of complacent long timers getting nasty shocks in the coming years.notagain wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 4:37 amJust let your regular agent take care of it, pay the dues and move on from all the shirts and their incessant scribbling and tax increases, in the end it's all in circles.

Word on the street is that one of Phnom Penh's most celebrated complacent expats has had to recently fly back home after being caught playing the system for far too long.nerdlinger wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 11:24 amFrom what I’m hearing around and about this is becoming less true year on year. Not even his little black phone book of royal connections and favors owed could reverse the fine imposed upon him for the 7+ years he stayed here without having a valid work permit.
Some are also saying he'll be in a for a nasty shock when when he flies back thinking his new shiney new passport will simply make everything go away and he will be welcomed back in on onother never ending cycle of renewals until he finds a job.

A real decent guy, a good friend of many, whose luck ran out. Quietly getting by but not able to get a work permit.
Not being able to afford a large fine does not change the decency of the person.
Methinks there are many more like him.
Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
Maybe Nerlinger's Cat and Harry Monk should change his device and IP location before arguing with himself about this issue.

That is just weird, double socks arguing with each other.
Personally I am all for this type of outing as I hate the guest function and socks equally.
