Hello
I ve received my visa, e-class, so especial thanks to PSD-Kiwi
for his 21th assistance......it was not easy to find the current one to
stay in the country without visarun.
I ve booked a condo a bit south of Wat Lanka und Airnb has
offered e few realy nice studios.
It´s the J-Tower; o.k., the skyscratchers are not my favourites, but
the apartments with garden pool are not in my price range
and a hotel for 3 months really not.
The environment looks very modern, but a bit far from the nightlife.
In 1999 i saw round every hour one car and the town was allmost
dark after 9 p.m
Im sure the times changed now to a modern city and i will find
around my condo all what i daily need and maybe also a nice
kind of meetings or relation.
So every suggestion about my area, (bkk1 ?) is welcome.
Canadian bank still charging no ATM fee ?
Local cigarette brands ?
Or a recommend secret short time destination ?
My english is not the best one; my classes were a long time ago.
Sorry for that, i´m retired..... and i´m a kraut
3 months journey fixed, thx

All ATMs here will charge you fees.
ARA is still the cheapest local cigarette brand that's easy to find, I think.
Download and learn PassApp. Choose "rickshaw". Use cash.
Go talk to others like you, in bars, in real life, to find "secret short time" destinations. Nothing on the internet is "secret". For example:
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php/?i ... 3715825545
Good luck with your short time search. That one will be very different than 1999. Search this forum for all the stories since 2004, when the forum started, including the stories about massage places.
Lady drink and bar fine prices in hostess bars is much higher.
Street 172 is now the "lakeside" type of area.
Street crime is much worse than it was, especially at night.
Bitte sehr im voraus.

Do most people on the forum find this true?
Dark, dodgy areas felt that way long ago, and to me they feel about the same now: places to stay aware not places to absolutely never pass through. That said, I think there were always occasional, temporary waves of street crime.
I haven't been to Phnom Penh since July, is it now in a crime wave? About the same as always? Or getting worse every month post pandemic, I just didn't notice?

I do not think it has gotten worse, snatching was a problem when I first came to PP in 2000 or so. I walk around in the evening and haven't had a problem (yet). But I am home before 21:30 and I do not go to the seedier streets.Guest9999 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 10:16 amBig Trook said, "Street crime is much worse than it was, especially at night."
