Making Money Online?..
As we all may know, there's been a recent obsession with working from home, ie from your personal computers. While such an option definitely sounds very intriguing in terms of being your own boss, working in the comfort of your home, etc. It also seems that either most of those online offers are filthy scams, or those jobs that are legit bring absolutely minimal revenue...
However, I've heard of munerous expats in Cambodia, Thailand and other exotic locations that seem to be making a decent living by working online??! That would be nice to believe, however ..Im way too sceptical, although if I found such a way ,i'd probably give it a shot.
So, Id like to ask whether anyone on this forum earns money this way? Or has tried it before?
Would be most interesting to know.
Salud!

It looks like you want to get an online job while you are already here. My experience was a bit different and may be of limited interest to you.
I worked online from here for part of 2007, but I already had a job in the US that allowed me to work from home before I came here. I simply continued what I was doing from home in the US, just from a different location. Of course I had to get my boss's approval since I wouldn't be available for the normal weekly meeting in the office.
Other than a couple of problems having to do with bad internet connections, it went pretty smoothly.

Thnaks 4 responses. Im thinking of creating a few quickie blogs with plenty of space for Google AdSense ads! :p I know ,sounds lame, and from what i've heard its pitiful pennies that one makes, depends on the quantity of blogs, i suppose....but even then ... I'm also trying to build a small website with Go Daddy, but am really struggling with all the technical stuf!!arrgh... its a bit of fun sure, but again - I've got the pay per click scheme in mind. It all seems like painstaking working, so i'm ending up wondering if its all worth it for the miserable income (if any) that the Adsense system offers??!
So what online options are there to make LIVEABLE amount of dosh? lets say around $1000 p/month, i'd be please with even that.
I'd strongly welcome any advice, the net is loaded with BS and scams, so i'd rather hear frm someone who's makin something this way!...
Muchas Gracias. =)

I've been working overseas for a couple of years, "outsourcing myself." However, I work exclusively with pre-existing clients from my home country. If the business dries up, I'll have to go back there & chase up some more. my 2 riel..

This story I love (I hope it's true); read about the parrot guy: http://www.cringely.com/2009/03/parrot-secrets/
So basically, he sells an ebook, the niche for which was identified by statistical analysis of publically avalible google info. He subcontracts the authoring of said ebook & is now making bank.
Initally, no parrot. But, I bet he's got a flock by now..

I've been trying my luck at camwhoring, but the market for overweight trannies in latex suits seems small. I may review my marketing strategy.

You need to put a big fat flashy advert in with your signature line, that seems to work for some people.Sok Poupe wrote:I've been trying my luck at camwhoring, but the market for overweight trannies in latex suits seems small. I may review my marketing strategy.
Oh, and latex is out. Hessian is the new sexy.

Blogs do not do very well but if u choose to go that way make a blog about a specific niche and then join the SAS, CJ and LS affiliate networks and find relevant merchants and sign u for their affiliate program. You will NEVER make money, ( i don't mean under $100) off of google ad sense unless ur site is very well trafficked and the chances of that for a new blog is slim.
I have been working online for over 12 years now. Work as an affiliate and also as an affiliate manager. Back when i started it was much easier as their was not as much competition.
You can also build a website for specific niche products and push them. Some of my affiliates make upwards of over $5,000/month and I know some that make over $10,000.month. IT all depends on the niche an dhow determined u are.
Do research about affiliate marketing

I think these are the only successful operators. The idea seems to be to find a product that people want but is under represented on the net and try to capture those looking for that product in google searches.Phuket2006 wrote:You can also build a website for specific niche products and push them.
I have a website which does comp management for sporting organisations in oz. I get about 60,000 public page views a month at present. It would be more but my customers are currently split across 2 servers as I rewrote the application and am transferring the users onto the new server. With the new server i decided to make the app free and try affiliate advertising instead. The click rates are woeful and I earn about $6 a month. I think the problem is that there is no nexus between the reason viewers are coming to my site (to view game results and ladders) and the product being offered in the ad rotation. Your comment reinforces this.

some stats for ya;
a GOOD average return for a website that sells something is about 2-4%
for an affiliate program;
10% of the total affiliates send clicks to the merchant
15% of those make sales
50% that makes sales do so on a monthly basis.
Ranking is what its all about. IF ur NOT on the first 2 pages of Google you will not make $$

By this, do you mean that 2-4% of visitors click on a link? Or, do you mean that a good ROI is 2% of money spent buying traffic?Phuket2006 wrote:a GOOD average return for a website that sells something is about 2-4%
My site has a Google page rank of 3 and responds first in the list to a search for "sports software" in Australia. Try "sports software site:au". I am not sure how it responds outside of Australia but don't care as my target is Australians. My return visitor rate is 69%.
Below are my affiliate stats for November, I must change all my ads soon as they are getting a bit stale but not really interested as I think its only an academic exercise for now. Only one page (each league) carries an ad banner. I thought I might wait until i build my user base for another year and then approach advertisers directly to pay for ads on my site, rather then the CTR or leads paradigms. Earnings for November are $4.60.
No. Sales: 0
Sales Value: $0.00
No. Leads: 3
Impressions: 18745
Clicks: 21
CTR: 0.00%
EPC: $0.22
Making money online is very easy if you have any good products, so it is very easy get successful business online. If you writing a book or developing application software so that can easy to find a clients. You may publish your books and magazines because people like needed new book or comic story.
