AFAIK it would be really hard for them to find out if you do have a work or don't have work permit, unless your workplace gets visited by the Government (ministry of labor?). A few friends have told me that immigration officials at the airport request to see work permits sometimes (and threaten fines if you don't have one), but as work permits are supposed to be kept with the employers (in the case of teachers at least), there is no reason why you would be carrying it. My friends have simply just given the official their boss's business card and said "contact this person if you have any questions, they are in possession of my work-permit". Obviously nobody ever called.
So you could always hand them your boss's, or really anybody's business card, if you are that worried about them hassling you.

Work books are kept by the employer but the permit (card) is kept by the employee.A few friends have told me that immigration officials at the airport request to see work permits sometimes (and threaten fines if you don't have one), but as work permits are supposed to be kept with the employers (in the case of teachers at least), there is no reason why you would be carrying it.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Ah okay. That makes more sense. My boss applied for ours in August but hasn't received them yet. Good to know.Lucky Lucan wrote:Work books are kept by the employer but the permit (card) is kept by the employee.A few friends have told me that immigration officials at the airport request to see work permits sometimes (and threaten fines if you don't have one), but as work permits are supposed to be kept with the employers (in the case of teachers at least), there is no reason why you would be carrying it.
