That is not a school. It is a training center.
And where is it, most importantly?
Sounds dodgy to me, as all schools are now giving etickets free to teachers to get them there. Plus a signing bonus. Among others.
Nobody wants to go because the pollution is bad, so necessary to know exactly where you are going. Among other things.

You are right, it is a training center or english institute or tutoring center or whatever else would be a more suitable name. Thats my mistake in generalising it as a school. Its a small place called Rugao in Jiangsu Province. Not far from Nantong or Shanghai.
Why dodgy? Because it offers benefits similar to other employers?
I was there 2015 and worked in the same town. Saw pollution only about 5 days in the year where it was visible. There are air pollution meters that link directly to mobile phone apps so one is able to see how the air pollution is compared to other cities. Rugao is definitely alot cleaner than alot of other cities in China.
Anyway, posting for my friend who owns a training center and I am able to provide whatever other info one might want about the place. If youre seriously interested, can PM me and if it sounds to your liking, I will put you in contact with my friend out there.

On the contrary. Because they don't. 25 hours is too many. Is that class hours, or hours? How long is a class? 10000 rmb is very low for that area, especially with those hours.HakunapiepMatata wrote:You are right, it is a training center or english institute or tutoring center or whatever else would be a more suitable name. I told you most schools now offer a free eticket to get you there, a singing bonus to start and finish. Usually a welcoming package.
That salary is way low for an hour out of Shanghai. Now that contract you have to sign would be interesting. Could you post that?

Sir, please read my original posting carefully. It states 25 working hours. In the benefits it mentions it again as 25 hours per week (includes teaching and office hours). So to make it ever more clear for you, its 25 hours that you work in 1 week total. Meaning you have a 25 hour work week. Meaning, you are required to do your job for 25 hours in 1 week. Meaning that outside of those 25 hours, you are not to be working, not to be at the work location and not doing work at home.
10,000 RMB with a free apartment in a small town is fairly average teaching wage and what other teachers make over there working at other schools. Please reference me to your higher paid jobs within the same area.
I don't have the contract nor do I work for the school. I work in PP and am merely posting on his behalf. If someone was really interested in this job, they would negotiate the contract details with my friend who owns this training center.
The benefits are what he told me and no mention of eticket or whatever it is you came up with. I worked in marketing in the same town, granted I had better benefits, my company didnt provide any eticket or welcome basket. Those are the benefits offered, if they are not enough for you, you are free to disregard it.

The mayor might disagree with you about the air pollution though, especially for kids in schools.

Either way, good luck with helping your friend find a teacher there.

Fair enough about the Rugao pollution post. Everywhere in China is polluted, Rugao is better than most cities in the region. You can download an app called Air Quality by Fresh Ideas to your mobile and compare the air pollution in all the different cities to figure out if its suitable for you. As I said prior, when I was there in 2015, I only saw about 5 days where the air pollution was visible to the eye. Most of the time it hangs around 70 - 100 AQI. Air Pollution is unfortunately one of the down falls of working in China.

So now the friend is the owner of the school. I see.
Average, you say? Maybe 5 years ago. 25 hours too much. Sounds kinda, well, you know ....
Disregard it? I was just giving my honest and fair knowledge. If I wanted a job in China, there are plenty offering 20000 a month with free (pollution free) apartment, and many, many, many more packages.
It stinks over there. Say it doesn't. 5 days a year my ass. Smells like an iron factory. And PMI is measured and controlled by the state, unless you are near an embassy that posts their own.
And one of the upswings for China is the air pollution. They will pay you to come teach and suffocate, even if you do wear a graphite mask. But 10000 for 25 hours?

Lol, ok. Last I checked 40 hours is the average work week in most countries around the world. 25 hours is total working hours per week, clarifying it for you again.
I'm glad you know how it is there without being there. Maybe I will hit you up next time I move to any location so you can tell me what I should expect.
I dont work in teaching so I dont know these other references of 20,000 RMB in that area, please feel free to provide links for reference.
yes the friend is the owner, who else would he be?
If you arent interested in the job, you are free to enjoy the clean fresh air of Phnom Penh with its beautifully paved roads, well maintained parks and efficient public transport.

You checked wrong for a foreign teacher working in China. It should be 20 class hours a week. And classes range from 40 to 50 minutes.HakunapiepMatata wrote:Lol, ok. I know the pollution because I lived it. You can't fool me, sir!
I do enjoy the clean fresh air of Phnom Penh, who also register PMI. The weather is sunny and warm, as usual. Pollution is near nothing, as usual. And hell, I wouldn't leave if they offered me 50000 a month in China. They treat foreigners like crap now.
So, um, you know nothing about teaching jobs in China, but you are defending it? Hmmm, that is kinda weird.

I'm not defending it. I'm posting for a friend and I know teachers who work there as well. You still didn't provide references, so youre just trolling bro.
You lived in Jiangsu Province? Or Tianjin?
Again not 25 class hours, total 25 working hours. That means both class and office hours together is 25 hours. If you have a full time job in PP and you work less than 25 total hours for $1500 salary, holy shit, please let me know who your employer is.
Just out of random curiosity, where can I check the PP PMI?

References? Why would I? You mean links for the jobs? I get them in my email all the time. I lived and worked in China for a few years. Been to Tianjin, piece of shit in winter. Been to Jiangsu plenty of times. Mostly under paid Nigerians from my experience.HakunapiepMatata wrote:I'm not defending it. I'm posting for a friend and I know teachers who work there as well. PMI in Phnom Penh? Try google.
Trolling? I think not. I'm stating clear and concise facts, providing evidence (even for you 2015 stay) and stating that it is a raw deal. Somethins fishy.
Just sayin

Well if my friend is trying to play me and use me for free advertising I would like to know. Please feel free to share some of these links for jobs youre talking about. When I checked on Daves ESL Cafe, it was pretty normal salary for a small city. So it would be great if you could enlighten me with these awesome salary jobs youre getting flooded with. Go ahead and spam the forum with them, that way you would prove your point, right?
Heres the PMI I found for PP, seems similar to the average PMI in Rugao. I wait for your links on PP PMI in the event that you have better references.
http://www.numbeo.com/pollution/country ... y=Cambodia
I never saw any Nigerians there, actually have run into many more here in PP.
You havent stated facts because you havent provided any references. Stop trippin dude, just sayin.

I don't have anything to offer you, not even the PMI in PP that you got wrong.
Hope you find a teacher, or maybe you should try it yourself.
Or are you actually the outgoing teacher and told him you would find one to replace you, per contract?
Um ummmm, not gonna sucker me into that smoggy polluted ole town you call traditional.
Ask some of the other teachers you said you knew.
