Just looked at his website through your link. I guess it was only the start of his first trip I connected with, and he continued to grow it more and more. It is quite probable that some Cambodian amputee organizations indeed have continued training in Steve's methods.
However, they might need a post pandemic shutdown boost, so I hope Steve can make another SE Asia trip sooner rather than later.
(One video showed him at Lalibella, Ethiopia (cool place!), and while that isn't a safe area at the moment, their current active ordnance distribution will unfortunately ensure plenty of civilian injuries in need of future help. Sad.)
Land mines
I’m certain that with the right funding, Steve could be very successful in helping others. I think it was the funding that ended it. He only raised funds online through GoFundMe type setups and never had organizational backing.
I actually know someone who was translating for him in Battambang.

Anyone have information on how much area is being cleared yearly of these mines? Anyone ever worked on clearing them? Is the best way to clear them by rats finding them or is there a better method.
Would it be feasible to set up a rat training centre in Cambodia? What other options are there?
For such a big problem in a country I never hear it mentioned much. There must be a lot of land left empty due to the fear of mines.
Sorry for so many ?, am very interested in what you guys think on the matter? Is there an end in sight? Would be a valuable charity to train alot more of these rats, maybe we could all pitch together and make a difference.
If they are still around you can ask these guys.

Jeez.
May God have mercy on your soul.
Reminds me abit of that dude in SHV who thought he could become a vet.
Do you have any landmine clearing experience?
I dunno. I just kinda think that sort of thing should have quite high barriers to entry.

Mines will always be essential in warfare. There just isn't any better or more economical way to defend a perimeter. The problem is when they are laid haphazardly and no record is kept on their location.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Most modern mine laying methods are performed by the mines being shot out of tubes often from moving vehicles or air dropped.
Very fast, low cost snd effective but there is no precise record of the position of each mine. Those systems are just precise enough to leave a roughly 4m wide zig zag passage corridors for your own troops to go trough
