With or without a car?Martinbkk wrote:So how much would a FT driver cost me??
on a daily or monthly basis?
dry or wet hire?
Do you want him 24/7 or daytime hours or about 12 hours a day in one stint or split shift?
Just around PP or regular trips to the provinces?
Do you want one with reasonable English?
Do you want one with a drivers licence?
cheers

PS.. I have a question for you... How long is a piece of string?
Well basically all your questions could have been deducted from the topic subject as well as earlier posts....but anyway to please you....LaudJohn wrote:With or without a car?Martinbkk wrote:So how much would a FT driver cost me??

I have a car (hence the DL topic), FT wouldnot mean on a daily basis, I was asking FT no OT so 6 days 8-10 hours, it should not matter on his basis salary whether he drives up-country or in PP I would think, The language I am not worried about and he DL would be obligated as I would not bring myself, family or friends subject to any form of corruption.
To your question; depends on the material....

Okay, so let me start this thread over because it is of interest to me.
I'm looking for a simple(ha) checklist of procedures to take when trying to drive legally (rented/bought car/moto) in Cambodia.
Hypothetical question: I'm coming into Cambodia with an International Drivers License, based off of a US DL. I pay the $45 to get a Cambodian DL. I think I get that and that all sounds pretty straight forward, but now what? What about insurance, forms, taxes, license plates, ect? I realize it's a pretty broad question, but I really haven't got a clue other than the aforementioned above.
And maybe I shouldn't be asking this question, but generally what's the barang-automobile-police-tea-fund-donation requested when stopped by the police for a traffic infraction? An example would be getting a ticket for speeding or turning up a one way or something, not drug related. 10-20 USD?

Are you still asking questions on car hire and have 1.700 postings under your belt?? What seems more ridiculous to you, questions from someone outside Thailand on general issues or yours???marklatham wrote:The language I am not worried about and he DL would be obligated as I would not bring myself, family or friends subject to any form of corruption.
And you are still coming to cambodia?
I am a newbie and just like to be informed as much as I can, hence all the questions....obviously to much for some here
Doesn't matter, keep on bashing on the new guy. Lived in SEA for a few years so I almost get used to it when changing location...
Never quite understood why though... is it the territorial thing, envy, or what??
