It's been quite a while since the Halcyon days of the Sharky's Cambodia tournament, which was much more of a pissup than any serious attempt at golf, hence highly fun, especially with the gals driving around in the beer buggy (and the lost Aussie group who almost didn't make it back and were blind drunk when they did). I haven't seen ANYONE try a tournament since, and have given up on getting the Sharky's guys to have another go after years of trying.
I am thinking that a K440 tourney could be quite a fun event. Just hire some of the more comely maidens at some of the bars who are regulars here, equip a beer cart or two and everyone pitches in for green fees, munchies, carts and prizes. Would there be any interest in this over the holidays?

Not quite sure about having maidens a long for the ride. Ive always stuck with the common-held philosphy that wive's and girlfriends dont belong on the golf course. Last I played in Vietnam one guy was sledged for quite a while for bringing his wife along, who just bombarded us with stupid comments all day.
Maybe they could just wait in the bushes? (selling drinks of course)

some friends of mine used to officiate at an annual tournament - their expertise was needed to keep score and direct the rich players, who were more familiar with AKs than golf clubs, if you get the drift... anyway, uh, where was i... oh yeah, one of the players took a fancy to a golf cart, not in a carnal way but you know for his own mansion i guess, and --he commandeered it off the golf course! ask the owner of maxim bar over the river, he knows the story, he was there!

I'd loved to meet up with other golfers to play a few rounds while I'm in Cambodia on family/business visit this Feb n March 2011. I'll make time available then to play in PP and Siem Reap courses anytime. Please feel free to contact me or let me know if I can contact anyone interested to meet up n play. Good luck Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!

Just to be clear, the "gals" I was suggesting were not wives and girlfriends. Unless your wife or girlfriend is a comely maiden working in a Phnom Penh bar. In which case you're SOL anyway.Doctor Seuss wrote: Not quite sure about having maidens a long for the ride. I am itching to play as I just got my Pings from the states. I have never played in Cambodia a full 18. I played in Dalat in April though. What course is accessible to non-members? Anyone want to play sometime. I'm a 16 handicap in the states when I played a lot but I bet I'm a 25 right now. Thanks Michael Bade
Nothing stupid about a nine hole par three course, mates of mine enjoy that course.
Minimum clubs involved.
I remember a few years ago an australian golfer played 18 holes with one club,I think he used a five or a three iron.
He finished there over I think!

City Golf is $17 if I remember right, that includes a 50 ball basket to practice on the range first. 9 hole par 3 course.

Will try to get used to shit lies and crap greens again...casper_uk wrote:I've a few friends over from the UK next month who are golfers and want to play in PP, i'll be meeting them there for a couple of days with another guy to make a 4ball.

So I take it she wasn't along to carry his bag? That's nearly as inexcusable as taking her along on a lads' night.Jacked Camry wrote:Just to be clear, the "gals" I was suggesting were not wives and girlfriends. Im up for a game on a 'real' golf course.... not that Par 3 City Golf crap.
Make the Snooky Vs Phnom Penh challenge at one of the PP golf courses and we are on!!! How about the one that is about 20km out of town... its $38/18 holes and the course is looking quite good nowadays (PP people can travel in my car, Snooky people can get a taxi). Or we can go to the one that is a couple of km's out of PP... its a rip off and I try not to patronise it ($45 and no extra value), but if you lazy Snooky twats are too lazy to travel further, then I suppose we could do it.
Ive got 2 for the PP team, Jacked Camry makes 3.. Deenween you PP or Snooky?
