How much? Cambo birth cert for my kid.
How much? Cambo birth cert for my kid.
Hello all, I have a six week old boy here and I want a British passport for him.
Embassy has told me to get a full Cambo birth cert from my sangat chief.
As I haven't had the chance to get acquainted(drunk) with this fellow, I fear I may be overcharged for his services(Fnaaar fnaaar).
Has anyone been through this process?
How much/long did it take to get it done?
I thank you all in advance.
Zebedee knew the score!

Cheers Barfly, exactly what I needed mate.
Yeah! Pheas, fookin embassy said they won't pay jack for jack so I will have to go with notarised translation.
Hey Fly, have you got an address for these scheisters?
Please inform as to whether I am being over familiar with Pheas and Fly, only my mum calls me Mez.
Cheers.

full birth cert for my little girl, was ten dollars i think. then "go translation" did the official translating. they are just behind the canadia towers,on 110 i think it is. the street that doc scott is on. make absolutely sure every last detail is correctly translated, and spelled,or the embassy will just turn you away. we went back to the translators twice for them to correct spelling mistakes!
Cheers Krisduncs, I will check it out.
Do you remeber how much they charged at GO translation?
I never mind a touch of Tom foolery when it comes to money but I am still weak enough to get upset when treated like a barang fuckwit.
Thanks again.

Are they considered to be "official translating?" I've been looking at visa application forms and they say "ALL DOCUMENTATION MUST BE IN ENGLISH OR ACCOMPANIED BY A NOTARISED TRANSLATION."krisduncs wrote:full birth cert for my little girl, was ten dollars i think. then "go translation" did the official translating. they are just behind the canadia towers,on 110 i think it is. the street that doc scott is on. make absolutely sure every last detail is correctly translated, and spelled,or the embassy will just turn you away. we went back to the translators twice for them to correct spelling mistakes!
Does this mean you can get docs translated somewhere and then stamped by a notary, or do you have to pay the full fee of $60 or whatever for each document the notary translates and/or stamps?
Who Gives a Fuck?
hanky,we had to get it done at one of only two places that were recognized by the british embassy. "go translation" was one of the two. yes it has an official stamp on each sheet. all included in the price. sorry for late reply. been on a hill.

Does anyone have *experience* getting documents notarized here? What was the price? I just looked up the website of that 'one and only' notary and the link was no good.I will try the Cambodian yellow Pages. I am surprised to hear that there is only one notary public in PNH. Perhaps there is a local equivalent, or a French legal system version, that is used by locals. How else could they conduct business (banking, construction, etc) that requires documentation? People trust each other so much that it's like the New York diamond business? Somehow I doubt it.

There is only one public notary, on the corner of Mao Tse Tung and Norodom. Oh yeah, back to the OP, I paid $150 for a birth cert recently, but it was backdated 3 and a half years.

Accurate, up to date and detailed information...
name: Benson Samay
location: yes, Norodom near Mao Tse Tung, NW corner
address: 205 Norodom Blvd, Chamcarmon, PNH
tel #: office - 023-215-516; mobile also listed on his card
email: n/a - don't send, he is fed up with spam and scams
website: www.notarycambdoia.com
branch office: 17 Sivatha, Siem Reap
hours: forgot to note, seemed normal
visual clues: gated compound of a gov't official more than a lawyer's office; sign in Chinese also
price: MORE than in Canada ('whadya expect when no competion?) To notarize a signature US$25
status: high - Minister; senior legal counsel to Royal gov't; chief legal council to CCP. I recommend you dress a wee bit formal. It's not like entering Joe Blow's notary office in Seattle
vibe: snazzy dresser, nice AC office, professional and quick; pleasant patio
