Yantra tattoo
It took me a few weeks to sort things out about having (or not) a big tattoo in the back, now I know what I want and it's called a Khmer Yantra Tattoo. (see wiki link and pictures below).
The thing is, I don't have a clue where I can have this kind of tattoo in Cambodia. The tattoo shop on street 51 told me they can do "something like that", I don't want "something like that", I want the whole spirit thing of an old fashion tattoo with all the imperfections, I want the khmer military style, not the fucking tourist souvenir.
Soldiers and policemen have these kind of tattoos to protect them from bullets. They are monk made.
These khmer tattoos can be done anywhere in Thailand but It really matters for me to be done here. Does anyone have an idea where to ask?

You want it done with all the imperfections? Ask a motodop to take you to a khmer tat place and they'll do it for about $15 and it'll be shoddy. Get it done at that place on st 51 and the quality will be pretty good. If you want it done old style with the bamboo with a needle shoved in the end then i'd advise asking a monk out in one of the provinces where to get it done
after u set the tattoo you are not aloud to speak for 3 days and 3 nights...
for me i like this one http://www.lightstalkers.org/images/show/964228
For those who had for some reason or other spoke out during the period of silence, they would have to observe the 5-holy Buddhist Abstinence for as long as they live-they cannot kill, steal, cheat, be intoxicated by alcohol or lust for woman
got this info from this website http://www.saloeurm.com/khmertattoo.htmthe magical power in the tattoo will only be effective and even strengthened if the devotee continues to observe all religious festivities, spend time in meditation and regularly pays respect to the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha"

What about http://khmertattoos.com?Kulu wrote:http://khmertattoos.com/
They don't do tattoos, they're maybe not in asia, they just sell designs online.
I've found a guy who knows a monk in Phnom Penh who does Yantra tattoos old style with the bamboo stick and gold needle.
I'll try to meet him next weekend.
Get a platinum needle, gives you protection against vampires too, on top of everything else.

The only protection against vampires is to be HIV positif.SunSan wrote:Get a platinum needle, gives you protection against vampires too, on top of everything else.

Apt name, which is what I was referencing. As in "Mother fucker, this hurts!" not calling you personally a mother-fucker. I have now though so I suppose we're even eh?

Also known as Sak Yant tatoos - to be authentic and have power they need to be done by a skilled monk or shaman.
And there is a ceremony involved.
You can get them in Northern Thailand, but you have to be 'approved' by the holyman to get one.
The funniest thing is that the authentic ones are 'tested' for their powers afterwards.
My Buddy had a serious one done way up in the hills beyond Chang Rai through his Thai contact in CR, where he lived for a year or more.
I think he was the first Farang this guy had ever done. No english spoken at all.
He sent me some priceless mob phone video of his Tat being 'tested'. This basically involved a Shaman with a frickin huge blunt-ish Machete rocking up, my buddy in a kind of meditative state, presenting his leg, whereupon the Shaman basically full-force tries to cut his leg off at the thigh with repeated Machete blows! Mate says it hurts a bit, but all he got was a bit of bruising - in other words, theoretically the Sak Yant massively reduced the Trauma that you would normally experience from this assault.
I've seen the video and the Shaman is not effing around!
Holyman was a typical wirey strong little Thai and he was putting his full body weight behind the Machete blow, however had the Machete been anywhere near as sharp as my $300 Global 250mm Chefs knife that leg would be gone - tattoo or not LOL

Is your mate still around? Might give it a try myself but don't blame me when the leg comes off.
One more thing, for the tat to give you protection, you need to follow the rules that go along with it. Fuck around, drink, gamble and the protection is lost irreversibly.
