How much for a taxi to Koh Kong?`
Anyone know how much a taxi from Phnom Penh to Koh Kong should cost? Want the whole car, not just a seat.

Cheers Sambo. I'll give him a ring when we go next month.

What about the reverse direction? Any sense of price and/or availability?
Might bus from BKK to Cambo border. Short notice flights on Air Asia upwards of 6000 baht now.

Lots of taxis available in Koh Kong right now, and about the same price $55-$60. I have one number handy (nice car, but I've only used him locally) Mr. Whisky 016996322.

Additional question: If I leave Bangkok on 0600 bus from Ekamai, arriving Trat before noon, could I make it to Koh Kong? Or even Phnom Penh the same day?
If only Koh Kong, is there some decent accommodation there?
Thanks.

Whisky is a great name for a taxi driver!
We left Bangkok at 0830 and made Trad by 3pm. Waiting for the minibus took almost an hour, then whoosh you get to Koh Kong in about two more hours. Lots of decent accommodations. Oasis, Dugout (downtown), Paddy's (formerly Neptune, although the sign says "formally Neptune"), Koh Kong Guest House (on the riverfront--simple and inexpensive and clean), Blue Moon, Apex, depends on what you like.

Very cool. That's my plan then, though I may take earlier bus from Ekamai. And I hate "early anything"!BubbaRamDas wrote:Whisky is a great name for a taxi driver!

I didn't take it, but there is a minibus service that claims to do the Bangkok to Ekamai run in four hours. I prefer a bus with a toilet for long trips myself.
Bangkok to Ekamai in 4 hours?! Jeez, and here's me thinking my taxi took a long time with half an hour! Guess I was luckyBubbaRamDas wrote:I didn't take it, but there is a minibus service that claims to do the Bangkok to Ekamai run in four hours.
Oh, and as for accommodation in Koh Kong, I stayed at the Apex, we did get a discount as we were there for a party next door so it only cost $13 for a room so not sure what usual price is but it was a really nice hotel. They have a small pool, the rooms are modern and clean and have a fridge, tv, and the shower was powerful in the bathroom too.
