connecticuter, there is hope around the corner...connecticuter wrote:I am still new here in PP and I have only checked small shops and the grocer in Sorya. None of which had the baked goods I am looking for.
There would'nt happen to be a place here where I could get fresh bagels and Italian pastries such as Cannolis and Sfogliatelle?
Please tell me I do not need to learn how to bake.
And no I cannot eat french pastries...I am American for goodness sake.
My Khmer GF was here for 3 weeks (until last week) and now (back in PP) she's eating oats for breakfast. She loved the wholegrain breads here and I will be bringing a couple of loaves this month. Said to be unobtainable in PP.
I can bring one for you also...
Perhaps someone can start a new bakery...
I'll bet most of the posters droning on about adapting to the local culture eat all their meals in the riverside or BKK areas.
After a few years of soup and rice, grilled meat or fish and rice, stir-fry and rice, and noodles, the odd exotic western delicacy becomes an essential little escape.
I'm sure bagels can be found, plenty of people ask for them. I don't know if the other stuff is Italian-American or Italian, in which case try some of the Italian restaurants.

It's worse than that, the poster who started droning on about that actually lives in the west!OnCore wrote:I'll bet most of the posters droning on about adapting to the local culture eat all their meals in the riverside or BKK areas.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
The Wagon Wheel on St. 51 sells whole grain, German style, rye bread.
Everything is available here, including English language papers. You just need to know where to find it.

Back in the days when CB didn't have a dislike for me (or is it merely total disregard?). Memories.

What became if this connecticuter lad? Is he still kicking about the Kingdom? Did he ever find his bagels? Did he go back home for wont of bagels? Was he forced to relocate because people kept hurling bagels at him? Did he choke on a bagel and cark it? So many valid, bagel-related questions remain unanswered.
