Charity Auction
would it work?
If I brought a couple of bottles over, say a mid/high end wine and another, maybe whiskey or similar, and we bid on them with the cash going to Miss Tara's school or something, would it be worth it? time is short and the bidding and payment would have to be done by the 21st Jan.
thoughts?

Get some hotels/ boutique hotels / shops/ bars/ restaurants in PP to donate some other prizes to bid on. A meal for two, a spa treatment, a night's accommodation...
Also, maybe be a bit clearer about who you are raising for and why. Where exactly will the money go. Perhaps go and see for yourself.
Great idea though, go for it.

Good luck asking rich Khmers to donate towards their own poor, underprivileged and needy. I think we all know what the answer will be.

I don't think Charlie means rich Khmers. He means us!
I wouldn't be up for this. Ask for a donation, ok. But attending an auction and bidding?

Correcto Mundo El Sunsano..
though it would probably be a more easy going aproach... I leave the bottles at a reputable place (garage, queelies etc etc) and then we bid on here (maybe Kir could create a thread in the events page and post it on twitter etc etc), at the finish, I collect the cash add $20 and take it to SR, the highest bidder takes the plonk. simples no.
its for a good cause, Tara seems on the level and all that.. but I am open to idea's... even including "give it up" it wont work.. just thought I'd test the water as it where..
It would be good for the charity, the image of K440, and even give a little focus on the place that holds the bottles, the only loser is me, who would have to provide the "prize" as it where..

A lovely idea. I'm not sure how well it would go inside of Cambodia but could work well, we've been approached by some bars/restaurants before about fundraisers but I just haven't had enough time to organise up to now.
Charlie has previously been to see our project in Aranh Village, visited KTC school and met Phary and staff at Khmer for Khmer organisation. Our sponsorship program not only supports children to attend English school, but also contributes to community development projects and vocational programs at KKO in Siem Reap.

My name is not Charlie, but nearly everyone calls me that.. its a nickname if you will. And I am a Brit, Devon to be exact, but am now living in Italy.. oh, and C30 was my Ambulance call sign when I was doing some EMT volonteering.
Charlie aka Carl aka Charles aka C30

Charity Auctions, Pub Quizzes and raffles are a regular thing here in SR. I'm sure they'd take off well in PP also. Tara, not sure why yourself or KKO are not involved in the quizzes around SR?
Phary and Sopheap are always so busy and I'm doing everything remotely at the moment! I was also given the impression it's a select few NGO's welcome, but would love to know more about it and be involved. We need more resources and more volunteers to get things off the ground and not limping along.

Just go and ask Pete @ Warehouse or Simon and Rachel @ Rosy. I'm thoroughly anti-clique!
Thank goodness. Refreshing!
