Asian Spice in street 111 i think, just off Sihanouk Boulevard. Cheap, and they'll happily throw in more veg or leave out any salt/msg etc. The owner is a helpful guy.Khmerized wrote:So guys, do you know a cheap, comfortable restaurant that makes tasty yet and healthy food? If that even exists....

True. I often ask my students in the first class, what do you wish for in life?franzjaeger wrote:being angry and stressed is worse than eating a bit of fried rice for sure.. the stomach acid will kill ya'
Some answer money/ jobs/ health/ etc. Very few undertsand that 'happiness' covers everything.

I cannot argue with the pursuit of happiness.
The pursuit of wealth usually involves mass murder/exploitation/unhappiness, and the direct link between this and capitalism is very difficult to deny.
War, inevitably, is about money.
Jesus said 'The love of money is the root of all evil'.
It is, I think, one of the many things he said which no one can reasonably challenge.

Or perhaps look at some training in Paddy's Gym.
On a related note, does anyone know of medication that cuts appetite? Not really considering it, just curious.
also i have seen that falling in love and being in love for a few months than losing the love is a sure method to lose ur appetite and weight
Note to the above pills they do take away ur appetite which in turn HELPS u lose weight but without a real excercise program and eating right .....

Apetite suppressing pills sound like a reasonable help, which pharmacy sells that kind of stuff?Phuket2006 wrote:Phentermine/adipex/xenicalKhmerized wrote:Will look into it. Meth, eh? Thanks but no thanks.Jackal wrote:Try to develop a meth addiction?

Anyway - I bought a membership to Muscle & Fitness Center, right next to my home, so no excuses for not going regularly. Also found a trainer, we just had our first session - every single muscle in my body is aching right now. Feels strangely good.
Let's see how long I can keep this up.

I assume ur trainer there is Shady. If not, u should ask for him. He'll kick ur ass...
I used to go there until the manager (lady) started being a total cunt about my gym/steam room membership.
One day she said it was broken, and i said "no prob, I'll wait, just add on extra days at the end of my contract for however long it takes to fix."
She said "sure" and then turned around and said "oh, here's ur money back because we don't know how long it will take to fix and u can just sign back up then..." ???
Of course, i got a call a few days later saying it was fixed BUT they no longer offer the steam room package... How convenient....
Never went back. I'll be happy the day it closes!

Good for you on the gym. You can get addicted to that too! And few side effects. Stay away from diet pills. You are already messing with your metabolism. Do it naturally and it will be easier to keep the weight off and stay in shape.Khmerized wrote:Phuket2006 wrote:Khmerized wrote: Apetite suppressing pills sound like a reasonable help, which pharmacy sells that kind of stuff?

Diet is 80% of the battle.
3,500 calories is one pound of fat (2.2 lbs.=1 kg.)
You must create a caloric deficit => eat less, exercise more.
If you have a 500 cal/day deficit, that's one pound a week.
Norm => 13 * weight in lbs. = cruising caloric daily Intake (no gain, no loss)
Get a bicycle. That's 1-2 lbs. Right there.
Switch to Khmer food, but easy on the rice. I personally don't eat rice anymore.
Treat yourself ONCE a week to a good, hearty meal.
Go to USA DONUT on St 300(?) near St 51 and buy their WHEY Protein for $30. Use it as a meal substitute and after workouts. But the Creatine too.
Keep a trainer, but you should mostly be doing cardio, not weight-lifting.
Pick up a sport hobby - ping pong, basketball, indoor swimming...

WoW, anyone who can walk into USA Donut (St. 304, i think) and walk out with only whey and creatine has will power! ! !happy_buddha wrote:...

Nah, my trainer is Santha, 7$/session and damn does he make me work. I can hardly move my arms today. 4 times a week before work, he says I should look good naked again in two to three months if we keep it up like that.cambod wrote:Good for u!Khmerized wrote:Apetite suppressing pills sound like a reasonable help, which pharmacy sells that kind of stuff?Phuket2006 wrote:Phentermine/adipex/xenicalKhmerized wrote:Will look into it. Sorry to hear about the bad experience. Good thing I don't really care about the steam room, plus I live around the block, so I don't even use the lockers. I used to have a membership at the Royal, that included jacuzzi, sauna, steam, pool and gym. Too many distractions but a very nice place to relax or work out if you have the will power not to spend too much time in the jacuzzi!

Here is a very good start to learning about the modern Western Diet and it ills:
And here is a diet that is very similar to what I eat to maintain between 4 and 6 pack abs year 'round: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/10 ... aleo-diet/
Train 3-4 times a week too, your trainer is right -stick at it for 3 months and you will see big gains.
Next up is the oils/fats are bad brigade, this is not so. Coconut oil, Flax seed oil, cod liver oil, some Palm oils, egg yolks, organic meat fats, and yes butter are good for you.
Margarine and hydrogenated fats are bad. Sugar is bad. High Fructose Corn Syrup is bad.
In short manufactered foods are bad, natural foods (ie meat/fruit/veges are good).
And to Vlad = coca cola and pizzas are complete and utter shit. Khmer food is way better.
PS Keep away from Soy (also in most manufactered foods), it mimics estrogen and turns you into a chick, or a whining snivelling friend-zoned metrosexual at best.
Feel free to PM me if you want serious advice.
This is a video that explains the role of insulin in dieting/getting fat:
