How many expats live in Cambodia?
from http://www.kas.de/wf/doc/1555-1442-2-30.pdfThe Phnom Penh Post publishes 8,000
copies a day and each copy has five readers
(a total of 40,000). The Khmer edition
publishes 10,000 copies a day and each
copy is estimated to have four readers (a
total of 40,000). “Newspapers are not dying
in Asia the way they are in the US and
Western Europe. Here they are on fire
How many people don't read any media or read it irregularly? It must be at least 30,000 English speaking expats not counting other nationals as French, Koreans, Chinese, Germans, Russians etc. So maybe number of 30,000 needs to be revised up.

expats complaining about too many expats. amusing. s'pose you can always help to reduce the numbers by 1.
Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard.

4250 French are registered at the French Embassy, French population estimated at 5500.SunSan wrote:Of course they're flawed, but they also estimate it's flawed by about 100%. Meaning if there are 5700 registered expats, there are about 5700 unregistered ones.
These numbers includes Khmers with French nationality, some of them in the government …
They are 30 000 foreigners living in Phnom Penh.
The 8'000 copies is bullshit, all news paper circulation numbers in Cambodia are exaggerated. The PP Post does not print more than around 3,000 copies of its English edition.DMK wrote:from http://www.kas.de/wf/doc/1555-1442-2-30.pdfThe Phnom Penh Post publishes 8,000

Agreed, I've worked in publishing for years. Circulation numbers are total bullshit and are definitely not a gage of anything unless you divide them by half and that's being generous. The 8'000 copies is bullshit, all news paper circulation numbers in Cambodia are exaggerated. I recall reading an article in the Cambodia Daily about 5 or 6 years ago stating there were about 30,000 expats (not just westerners) living in Phnom Penh. I think the source was the local municipality.
