I’d love to cycle more here, have been thinking of getting a bike for the past year or so. But the security issue is my most significant concern. I don’t think there are so many places that you can safely/conveniently chain a bike to, and many dopey security guards here wouldn’t notice someone picking up a bike and carrying it away as they are too engrossed in playing Facebook.
What do cyclists here do? Is it a valid concern?

Thieves here don't generally have the tools to take off a decent lock, and they'd be seen carrying a locked bike.
