Tigers in Cambodia?
Are there any left? Where? How many (est)? Thanks in advance. I've seen a few places where they would be able to survive, but these areas are obviously rapidly shrinking (China is helping, right?).
ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.

i've heard that up north they still exist... but i've also heard that a video of a guy being magically teleported out of danger in a near traffic accident was real...
Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard.

I'd guess that there are quite a few places where they could survive, but the Chinese appetite for dubious medicines has probably condemned them to history.vladimir wrote: I've seen a few places where they would be able to survive, but these areas are obviously rapidly shrinking (China is helping, right?).
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I few years ago when I biked up Bokor I could have sworn the ranger or whatever told me a tiger had been spotted in the previous weeks. Or most likely he was just having a go at me?
Even in the most remote areas of Cambodia: Stop and you are surrounded by Cambodians within a couple of minutes.
No Tigers, only Cambodians....

They tell all the trekkers about that tiger as well. The three-legged one right?Bitteeinbit wrote:I few years ago when I biked up Bokor I could have sworn the ranger or whatever told me a tiger had been spotted in the previous weeks. Or most likely he was just having a go at me?

Cardomans - some might exist there
Mondulkiri/Ratanakiri/Vietnam side of the border - WildAid or someone else like that put up cameras a few years ago, go thru their websites.
penguint has some idea what is around, I'll ask over coffee tomorrow.
Footy Yank should know about Rattanakiri
One good bet is that the NGOs monitoring them are NOT reporting the figures so that there will be no poaching. I'm know that the gps coordinates of something else got wiped from the database years back to prevent such a thing from happening.

Dictated to a slave and sent by carrier pigeon.
I've heard a couple of reports of villagers seeing a tiger/tigers in forest out past Sambor Prei Kuk in the last 6 months or so. I'm not sure about the origin of the information, but the two that passed it on to me are quite reliable chaps.
Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.
According to the Wildlife Alliance ,yes there are still Tigers in Cambodia. They have evidence of Tigers in The Cardomom and Elephant Mountains and also in Botum Sakor National Park, In Botum Sakor i have seen lots of Elephants ,there was a family of 9 recently on land opposie Koh Sdach,at night there are Leopard Cats around the paddy fields there.
The Wildlife A. should be finishing their 3 year study soon and will be publishing their findings on the Tiger population.

I was shown tiger footprints near a river in Mondulkuri about seven months ago. Very big...
I heard reports of a large female with a cub in early 2011in the north from a friend who was working with an NGO, numerous locals had described the animals. They installed camera traps in the area but I never heard if they recorded anything, at least they weren't telling me anyway.
Going by whats been said here it appears there might be very small populations scattered throughout the more remote regions in the country. At least that what I'd like to believe. How about the Kouprey?

they claim to have one at ream park, but I think its a lie told to sell more treks...
I should say there is quite a bit of that going on throughout the regionsohi wrote:they claim to have one at ream park, but I think its a lie told to sell more treks...

I heard an american tiger expert a few years ago saying that there maybe five or six surviving but no breeding pairs at all.
I know that a tiger stepped over khmers sleeping on the ground on a southern gold lease in rattanakiri a few years ago.
Soon cambodia will have no forests and no wildlife, the contrast with sri lanka is striking. The rich khmers are uniquely venal, arent they?
