Christian cemetery in Cambodia
Was reading this one thread about the deceased Canadian man who died from suicide.

What interesting is funeral service for the deceased itself. It starts out as the Christian funeral Service, then transitions to the Buddhist cremation Service. Cremation is not allowed in Christianity. Isn't there a Christian or Catholic cemetery or burial ground for the deceased Western expats in Cambodia? The Chams have theirs, so do the Chinese and Vietnamese. This assumes that the deceased Westerners were of the Christian faith.

Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard.

Are you sure? Knew several Christians who chose to be cremated and a pastor did the rites etc... wrote:Was reading this one thread about the deceased Canadian man who died from suicide.

Cremation is not allowed in Christianity.

Pretty sure that is not correct for most "Christian" faiths - the last to allow it were the Catholics, but they are not really Christian anyway............ wrote: Cremation is not allowed in Christianity.

I don't know which denominations in Christianity don't allow cremation. There was a Christian cemetery near to where the old stadium is, which is not far from where the original Catholic Cathedral was. You can see these on old maps. Both were destroyed in the late 70s, the cemetery was built over since, but there's a modern church built on the site of the original cathedral. Another much larger cathedral was built on Monivong opposite where La Royal is now, but it was destroyed. There was also a cemetery behind the Carmelite Chapel on Chruoy Changva. I don't think it is there anymore, but the church building is.

wiki:
'In 1963, the Pope lifted the ban on cremation, and in 1966 allowed Catholic priests to officiate at cremation ceremonies. The Church still officially prefers the traditional interment of the deceased. Despite this preference, cremation is now permitted as long as it is not done to express a refusal to believe in the resurrection of the body. [1] Until 1997, Church regulations used to stipulate that cremation has to take place after a funeral service. Such funeral services are conducted in the same manner as traditional burials up to the point of committal, where the body is taken to the crematorium instead of being buried. A burial service is performed after the cremation is completed.'

Yes is the short answer.
No don't know exactly where.
Out of P P which narrows it down to the rest of the country.
Think it not more than 45 mins out of town. Knew of a guy who was buried there a few yes back.

They have quite a pleasant Christian (Anglican) graveyard in Bangkok. Just south of China town on the bank of the Chao Phraya. Wouldn't be a bad spot to end up.
The cremation rate in the UK is about 75%.

Nice feedback, everyone. What I meant about cremation in Christianity is only strictly a Biblical traditional sense, not a modern adaptation. Jesus was not cremated after HE died on the cross. Buddha was cremated after he died. So that is my reference point. Be it naiveté on my part or what not, but I have never seen a multicultural memorial service before. After all, exclusively, the Bible says: "You shall have no other gods before me. 4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God..." With that said, I shall now dismiss myself.

Well I can't say I have either. I'm guessing you're one of those Baptist Khmers from Long Beach?.. wrote: Be it naiveté on my part or what not, but I have never seen a multicultural memorial service before.

Here is a map of the location of the old French cemetery Number 31 ( I think that there is a school there now) and one of the churches (number 352 )near the Japanese bridge, circa 1967.
Bagdad? That's in California, right?
