Poison used on dogs
Does anyone know which poison is commonly used here to kill dogs and better yet its name in Khmer? It's not rat poison as that's slow acting, I've had one dog poisoned here and it was extremely fast acting with the dog unconscious within 30 minutes and dead within an hour.
I'm working on poison proofing my other dogs with a shock collar but to really perfect it I need the dogs to know the scent of the poison (in a very controlled way). I've heard from other people that it's a purple liquid that's placed onto meat.

Sorry, somewhere in there is the specific name for the poison in English. I can't remember which page though but it's nearer the beginning, like page 5-10 or something.

Vlad got it right, the purple stuff is brake fluid.

It can't be brake fluid as the article says it takes 36 hours to kill, I've been unfortunate to see the stuff I'm talking about in action and I think most dogs would be lucky to last 36 minutes.
I'm pretty sure it's a type of insecticide or pesticide used by farmers that also happens to do a bloody good job on larger animals.
If any of you have a countryside division here please ask them I'm sure they'll know.

If your dogs are well behaved and you don't leave them out to bark all day, no one will want to poison them.
Follow my lame Twitter feed: @gavin_mac
It may be 'paraquat', dark blue/purple in colour. One of the most widely used herbicides on the planet and highly toxic to animals and humans(10-20mls= death). It does kill, though a few hours seems rather rapid and is probably the most common suicide agent used in many '3rd world' countries. It has no smell and is easily absorbed; by having no smell it could easily go undetected by a dog. The colour is added, but no smelling agent.

Are you kidding? Because Cambodians hate noise so much?gavinmac wrote:If your dogs are well behaved and you don't leave them out to bark all day, no one will want to poison them.
The majority of dog poisonings are by burglars who wish to rob places unencumbered by dogs warning their owners that something is going on...
FWIW. Roosters seem immune to any poison, they can drink out of sewage outlets and eat shit all day! And the bastards still crowing on full form 3am the next

I wonder if its at all like anti freeze -vladimir wrote:Lots of sick people use brake fluid.
Dogs love it for some strange reason.
Apparently its very sweet and tastes good. Cats, dogs and children get poisoned accidentally by the stuff on occasion
No its not the same, antifreeze does not make for good braking, but I'm sure some have used it in garages here!
