Marrying a Cambodian help
I'm 28 from uk and my fiancé is 23 from Cambodia I can get all paper work apart from the 2500 dollar monthly salary as I'm self employed my wages are different all the time and I've been in Asia for the past 8 months so it's impossible to prove anything is there anyway around this? Thanks

If you are self employed, then you can write anything you like can't you?
I know that sounds a little bit shifty, but really, anyone who means tests income for wedding licences deserves to get the wool pulled over their eyes.

Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.
I agree so something like a fake invoice should suffice the job! Plus a few bribes by the looks of it! Just tried to get my affidavit from the embassy in Cambodia now they tell me I have to wait 21 days to apply for one would it be more simple to go British embassy in Bangkok and just get one there the. Come back to Cambodia?
Dude I thought you were going to say you were marrying your maid and I started having all these really nasty thoughts about feather dusters and windex....

No way you can work around this, laws have become tighter last year and are actually enforced at MFa.Jamie856 wrote:I'm 28 from uk and my fiancé is 23 from Cambodia I can get all paper work apart from the 2500 dollar monthly salary as I'm self employed my wages are different all the time and I've been in Asia for the past 8 months so it's impossible to prove anything is there anyway around this? So you have to present the paperwork.

Or just marry across the border, in Thailand?
How much is the normal cost?

I was over in Thailand the cambodian embassy there said we couldn't marry there because neither of us are Thai citizens, my plan was to marry in Thailand as it's so much easier
I was at the cambodian embassy with her in Thailand just before and they said we couldn't marry there because neither of us are Thai citizen! That was my original plan to do it there because it's so much easier
Documents needed for a legal marriage outside of Cambodia (statement of being single) will not be provided by Cabodian MFa. Since a year or so Cambodians are no longer able to marry abroad, unless they have already married under Cambodian law and want to marry under foreign law also, but the latter I am not 100% sure of. The first part I am sure about.TristranandIsolde wrote:Or just marry across the border, in Thailand?

That would be why they said no then! I guess a bribe to the right person would make the papers appear! Not that I really want to go down that path!
This is just a way to collect tax $$$ and pocket money on Cambodia based weddings. Utter scam and probably illegal in someway under international law. I married my wife in NZ to get around it, and also so that my elderly relatives could make attend. Our marriage registration will be recognised in just about any place in the world, but apparently I need to cough up $1000 to register the paper work here or else it will never be recognised.
If I ever have $1000 lying around the house that's just blowing around in the breeze I might take it to the registry office and get it sorted.
