New Zealand couple new to Cambodia
There is month by month apartments above Minx bar/That french steakhouse on 108 street around the $350/month +power range.
Ah thanks for the reply. Well, I'd like to know we'll be safe and secure from the first day and I'm not sure if we want to pay a months hotel charges - they seem to be a bit more expensive?rebo wrote:I don't think anyone on here would recommend trying to rent an apartment while still overseas. Too many factors to consider. Arrive, stay in a Guest house and spend some time looking.KOTARE wrote:
How would one go about finding a one month rental of a private apartment from overseas? Any ideas? It's like the only thing I need to nail in advance - the rest I can just figure out once we're there.
Why do you need an apartment locked up before coming?
I'll look into a guest house, but privacy is the big thing for us. No biggie though.
For the record, I only wanted that first month accommodation locked up before hand. We'll have a bunch of things and after the trauma (lol) of traveling it'd be nice just to go home and close the door while we find a proper home.
Thanks again!
Brilliant - thank you. Seeing as how we'll be only sleeping in sheets a lot of the time, it'd be good to get very nice ones to bring with us!scobienz wrote:This.
And if you're only going to be in Phnom Penh for a week you would be better off staying in a hotel. It will likely be a cheaper option.
The only place I know that rents apartments for short periods is De Castle but it will cost you at least 1400-1500 for a short term lease.
Egyptian cotton sheets? Forget it. Bring your own.
Cheers bro
Thank you for that - really appreciate the tip. You can vouch for them?dv8inpp wrote:There is month by month apartments above Minx bar/That french steakhouse on 108 street around the $350/month +power range.

Absolutely. Great point. A Bangkok shopping trip sounds great.Phuket2006 wrote:worst comes to worst u can fly over to Bangkok for a long weekend an get anything and everything u want/need.
Hi Kingfisher- it's usually very noisy living above a bar. Just sayin'.

Lol I totally missed/didn't think through that part. Cheers.kinard wrote:Hi Kingfisher- it's usually very noisy living above a bar. Just sayin'.
The surrounding neighbours are a key part in selection. It could be a fantastic apartment but if next to KTV don't expect much sleep. The other factors are: metal shops, construction, road types, being near busy intersection, neighbouring a school, a church (noisey fucking born agains), near old people (they tend to die and have funerals) plus many more delights.KOTARE wrote:Lol I totally missed/didn't think through that part. Come and take your time checking out the area suiting your needs.
Sorry, I lol'ed.rebo wrote:...near old people (they tend to die and have funerals)...
I also agree with this too, the place is only half of the battle and even then, luck might be against you. The last guesthouse/apartment I was staying at was great for the first two weeks as it checked out in every way at first. Then 4 Chinese couples moved in and it turned to hell on earth. They were the noisiest motherfuckers I've ever met, and being Japanese didn't make them any friendlier towards me so when I asked them to be quieter, they just got louder. Long story short, I ended up breaking the contract and getting the hell out. Good thing too because two weeks after that I got word that the building nextdoor was being demolished and going under construction for a new 10 story hotel. ETA 2 years to completion, or in other words, a hell of a lot of construction.
Sometimes you can't win.
