I am re-entering Cambodia soon.
My 8th consecutive business visa expired last month while I was out of the country.
I am applying for a new Australian passport today so I will re-enter Cambodia on that. I do actually need a new passport as I am almost out of pages but I am doing it more with a view to having just one visa in my passport when it comes time to getting the workbook and avoiding a potential 8 years worth of back fines.
I know there was a retardedly long thread about business visas but can I ask ;
a) can we still tick "business" on arrival and pay the $25 with renewal in a month to the business visa for $280 ?
b) has anyone done the above viz a viz getting a new passport and then the workbook with no hjisroty of previous visas questioned ?
c) can you get a workbook without having an employer or do they need all the employers details and them to vouch for you ?
d) Not sure how to phrase this one but the one downside I possibly foresee if is i decided to try and wipe the 8 years of visa history and Cambodia ever changes visa rules that discriminate against those that have not been on business visas for very long, then I am fucked.
I need to be prepared for the above. thanks in advance and sorry to rehash this again...
Renewing 8 year Business Visa / New passport etc
How much do you like staying here?
How long do you see yourself living here in future?
How important is it to you that you're all straight with the powers that be?
Would being caught out on the fiddle re essential residency paperwork pose a problem for your future life here?

I assume that you will get your old passport returned to you with your new one, so it would perhaps be possible to produce it and 'unwipe' the 8 years of visa history if it became advantageous to do so in the future. As you are married to a Cambodian and have sired two brats who have Cambodian citizenship, I imagine you would be a fair way down the list of expats to get booted.ricecakes wrote:d) Not sure how to phrase this one but the one downside I possibly foresee if is i decided to try and wipe the 8 years of visa history and Cambodia ever changes visa rules that discriminate against those that have not been on business visas for very long, then I am fucked.

Both good points.slavedog wrote:I assume that you will get your old passport returned to you with your new one, so it would perhaps be possible to produce it and 'unwipe' the 8 years of visa history if it became advantageous to do so in the future. No you can't, law have changed this year. You need to have work to get workbook now.ricecakes wrote:c) can you get a workbook without having an employer

*other brands are available.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
a) Tick 'Ordinary' and pay $35 now. Can still extend 12 months for appx $280.

i renewed my aus passport a few months ago the process is ridiculously easy.. (if you're in aus) fill out an online form hand over some photos they cut the number strip out of your main passport page and cut the corners off and hand it back to you all done in 10 mins...
still leaves you with an old passport which can be used as evidence?? Passport number does change tho.. would be nice if it stayed the same or atleast add a indictor like xxxxxxxxxA
