I am moving to Cambodia with my wife and three young daughters in November. I haven't been in 5 years. We will live in Siem Reap, but spend time in PP as well. Some of my friends say that crime has risen as of late. Have you guys noticed more petty theft and so forth than in previous years?
Thanks!
Has crime increased?

I notice a lot more discussion of petty theft on the Siem Reap FB page.

Interesting new trend, car thefts have increased lately.
Urbanisation, poor policing, huge discrepancy between poor and upper-incomes, what can one expect.
Like the traffic stats, I'm just amazed there isn't more, but it's coming.
Three young children? Hope you have good schools waiting.

Faeries, come take me out of this dull world, For I would ride with you upon the wind, Run on the top of the dishevelled tide, And dance upon the mountains like a flame.

It's a never ending debate here. I think it has personally,
Your wife has got to be extremely careful when walking with a handbag. Every western female I have known over the years has been hit at least once. Most of my wife's Khmer friends have been hit too. One of them died after being ripped off the back of a bike over a bag.
Mind you, this is in Phnom Penh - I'm not sure about Siem Reap. Id say care with the handbag holds true for tourist areas there though.

Agree, good advice, PH
Travelling in tuk-tuks with handbags needs care, too.
