Siem Reap with a car. What to do?
So we have been to Siem Bloody Reap more than a few times, but always by bus and jet plane, but never with our own car from home. This Pchum Ben, we will be in Siem Reap with our car for the first time and I am wondering what there is to do around the provice that perhaps having our own car makes easier to visit? Usually we just relax while there and of course visit Angkor Wat and the temples for an afternoon. I was thinking it would be cool and easy to access Siem Reap Province now that we have our own car.
Thanks,
DM.

do a trip up to Bang Mealea/Koh ker, Preah Vihear for sunset, over night in Preah Vihear city and come back
Leave at 7 am or so to avoid the tour bus's
or a nice trip out to Banteay Srei

As Phuket. Preah Vihear is actually easily done as a day trip. Koh Ker is one of my favorite temples and easily accessible. Ang Trapang Thmor if you are into nature and birds. Battambang.

Glad you cleared that up. I would have thought, hovercraft.DetroitMuscle wrote:So we have been to Siem Bloody Reap more than a few times, but always by bus and jet plane,
Christ, we get it slappy, welcome to the club. I would venture that 90% of 440's regular posters that reside in Cambodia have cars.DetroitMuscle wrote: but never with our own car from home. Except that jessie RobW.
He goes and sells that nice Celica to andy-Sunday-driver-in-asia. There would have been nothing better to go for a bit of kerb crawling or impressing one of the ditzy hoo-wahs working out of Khmer Barber.

The Celica in question has all the characteristics of a dog, 'cept loyalty. Take reliability away and there is literally no reason to own a Toyota.

Ahhh! I am kicking myself for not sending you a PM earlier. Great suggestions by everyone. Koh Ker, Preah Vihear( I've not been in the few years I've lived here) so this is great.
To Mr. Gibbon, we've had a car for over a year, just not up in Siem Reap... dang, I guess I didn't make that clear enough above.
Thanks for putting it in bold so everyone can see and perhaps understand my words more clearly. What a pal.
Lo aprecio,
DM

What kid of car does DM drive in Cambodia? For some reason I'm picturing a tiny car with his head sticking through the roof as he drives.

I hope its not a Visto or a Tico. He'd be taking a serious chance driving that distance if so.

I feel that way sometimes. I don't attempt to drive on 4 wheels in the Kingdom. I'm just a lazy passenger along for the ride. Braaaapgavinmac wrote:What kid of car does DM drive in Cambodia? For some reason I'm picturing a tiny car with his head sticking through the roof as he drives.
