My passport hasnt returned from liverpool yet and need to go to bangkok on thursday. I applied for, and will recieve an etd on monday.
The embassy told me I need a visa for thailand, the thais said 'no problem, come tuesday'.
Has anyone else had to leave and return to cambodia on an etd?
Hassles etc?
Cheers.
Travelling on an ETD
Entering Cambodia after your visit might be difficult, your Cambodian visa is in your passport I assume and you can not show it. Maybe they'll let you buy a tourist visa on arrival and let you in?
I still have my old passport (for id purposes) with old visa inside. Uk passport agency now accepts full colour photocopies, validated in pp by outsourcing company.
The etd allows travel to my itinary, old passport is still 'valid' but presumably cancelled on whatever computer system is used.
Maybe i'll take residency cert. marriage cert. along with khmer wife.
Is it worth a trip to airport immigration before my trip, i wonder?

I thought ETD's were only valid for travel back to your country of citizenship?
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
No, you can travel, but must keep to a registered travel plan.

Been a while now, supposed to take 3-8 weeks.
On the ETD tip, here's how it went:
ETD from embassy, appointment Friday, $149, collected Monday (2 trips to PP)
Thailand requires a visa for ETDs, $35, appointment Tuesday, pick up Wednesday (2 more trips to PP)
Left Cambodia without hassle, confused the immigration lady with 2 passports, old one with visa. Few minutes with her superior and I was let out.
Thai immigration no problem. Left Thailand no problem, Cambodia didn't blink at the ETD, charged $3 for no photos and stuck a $35 visa in the ETD.
The immigration officer at the desk asked my wife for something to buy a cup of tea with, in Khmer, and was told to jog on.
A customs officer approached me leaving the airport, and a quick glare at him made him go to someone else.
All in all, apart from the waste of time and fairly expensive cost, ETDs are no problem to travel on.
