My partner is moving to PP next month and will bring along her 27i iMac. She's planning to ship it from Kuala Lumpur to PP with DHL - question is if the customs might pick it up or if she'll be required to pay some sort of tax? The iMac is about 3 years old, so not necessarily new and in mint condition.
Has anyone experience with shipping goods with DHL that are of considerable value?
Cheers

I don't have specific experience, but I don't think you will have any problems. DHL know what they are doing. DHL will be able to advise on any import duties required, but I don't think there will be any.

Why doesn't she just bring it on the flight with her?
27i, packaged properly, no probs, way cheaper than those guys at DHL, even if she pays excess
If she has the original packaging, piece of cake, or contact the dealer for a 2nd hand packaging a more recent client doesn't want

Not wise imho. The packaging will make it too big to take on board as hand luggage and anything valuable sent in the hold is in danger of being pilfered by Phnom Penh baggage handlers. All too common occurrence. Bag not awwive sir! No hab.

Thanks for the advice guys.
We did consider her brining it on the flight, but she decided against it. It's way too big for carry on luggage and she doesn't trust the baggage handlers.
We'll see how it works out with DHL - will report.
Cheers

I brought an iMac over in checked bags recently. I noticed that the aluminum stand on an iMac cannot be removed. This looked like it was going to be a problem, as the stand could be forced against the back of the housing. I pulled the styrofoam from the original box and packed the iMac into the styrofoam, taped it up and then packed it into a hard suitcase with room for more stuff around it. It was perfectly snug and secure and out of plain site. It arrived without an issue.
I've never experienced any theft at Pochentong. Is it common for items to go missing from checked luggage there? I've not heard any of that until now. I guess I've just been lucky.

That's like, your opinion, man.
